Hiking 1:00:00 [3] 6.0 mi (10:00 / mi)
shoes: Brooks Running 17

Hiking in Nelder Grove with Sam and Presto! After some consulting of the snow depth satellite map, we decided that the best area for hiking this weekend was the southwestern side of the Ansel Adams Wilderness. I wasn't convinced my hip was up for two hard hikes in a row, so we decided to check out Nelder Grove, which is the only Giant Sequoia grove that allows dogs (as far as we know).

We were expecting a really small area with a high density of really big trees. However, Nelder Grove is actually a fairly large area with a very low density of really big trees. The big trees were EXTREMELY big, but the experience was sort of less amazing than we were hoping. It was still a nice day for a walk and it seemed pretty easy on my hip, and we did see some big trees, so it was all good :-). Presto seemed perplexed by our interest in the trees.

Stretching 5:00 [3]

Quick stretch in the motel.
