Training Log Archive: Lori

Hiking in the Ansel Adams Wilderness up to Jackass Lakes with Sam and Presto! Awesome hike :-). The snow depth maps seemed pretty accurate. We were totally fine with just microspikes towards the top. The hike started out with a nice steep ascent through some really nice forest. The lower, middle, and upper Jackass Lakes were all very nice, but sadly devoid of donkeys... Tree line was just above upper Jackass Lake, so we trundled on up towards Madiera Peak and got some amazing views of the Minarets, the John Muir Wilderness, and even the mountains around Evolution Basin!

We decided the footing and the snow were getting a bit sketchy, so we didn't end up summitting (we'll have to come back sometime in the summer) and turned around after lunch. Presto was delightfully frolicky on the way back down. We haven't seen him having that much fun in a while. Super fun day!
