| Went to the NEOC meet at Rocky Woods. I did pretty badly through a combination of my and my compass's stupidity. I sent my own compass back to Brunton in the hopes that they will send me a working compass, which they haven't yet, so I rented a compass from NEOC. The rental compass left some things to be desired, such as actually pointing north. Unfortunately I was not paying enough attention to the map and terrain to realize that part of the reason that I was unable to be even remotely accurate while compass baring was that my compass was not pointing north and was changing direction constantly. I was also not paying enough attention to where I was in general, especially on the longer legs. I need to train more on 1:15000 maps. Even once I realized the map was 1:15000, I was not very confident about how far I needed to go. |

 | Cross-Country Skiing 3:00:00 [3] 15 km (12:00 / km) | |

| Went to Waterville Valley, NH to cross-country ski with Ian. We left a little later than planned and then got lost along the way, so we got to Waterville Valley about an hour later than we wanted to. It had snowed about 8 inches the day before we got there, so the snow was really nice. We were planning on doing a longer loop, but Ian's pole broke, so we decided to turn back a bit early. |

 | Running 29:54 [3] 3.33 mi (8:59 / mi) | |

| Went running with my dad and Jiffy around Dix hospital. It was pretty warm today, and I am definitely not used to it. |

| We decided to go bike riding again since the bikes were all fixed up and we did so much changing of tires and stuff on Saturday. We did the same ride as Saturday except that we didn't take Jiffy out afterwards because it is actually kind of cold here today and we were excited to get inside. We took Jiffy out for some frisbee fun instead. |

| Sprint on a brand new map at Lake Crabtree. The map was missing a decent amount of detail but the contours were pretty good. I did pretty well for most of the course but there was a woman following me who would sort of run ahead and then wander around aimlessly until I got to the control at which point she would punch right after me, which was annoying. At the very end she went one way and I decided to go a slightly different way in the hopes of losing her. Instead I just got lost and lost about 3.5 minutes. |

| Second sprint at Lake Crabtree. I did really well until the very end at which point I went to number 1 instead of number 11, which seemed to be a fairly popular mistake. They were pretty close to each other, and I just glanced down and saw a control with a 1 next to it. I hit it dead on, and then was extremely confused when I saw the control code. Oh well... I think I lost about a minute. |

| Went biking with my dad on the Lightning, which was a lot of fun. It is so much faster than my bike back at school. We went from my house through Dix hospital, then to Centennial campus, to and around Lake Johnson, to Baja Burrito for lunch, and then back through Dix hospital and home. When we were about a mile out, my back tire exploded (literally, I guess that's the problem with road bikes), so my dad went home to switch my tire out. When we got home, Jiffy was disappointed that he hadn't been allowed to come, so we took Jiffy out with us back to Dix and rode around there with him for a while. We clocked him at 20.5mph. Go Jiffy!! |

| Went to the CSU training at Hammond Pond. My tooth was hurting pretty badly while I was running, leading me to believe that I probably shouldn't have gone orienteering, but I couldn't resist. I was running kind of slowly to limit the jostling, which only sort of worked. |
Tuesday Mar 18 |
 | Elliptical 39:16 [3] 4.45 mi (8:49 / mi) | |
| |
| Still a moratorium on jostling, so I went to the gym to elliptical. My tooth was hurting before I went because I practiced the flute for longer than I should have, but it didn't get much worse because of ellipticalling. Yay! Maybe I can start running outside soon! |

 | Elliptical 35:00 [3] 3.87 mi (9:02 / mi) | |

| My tooth is still hurting, so I went to the gym to do elliptical so that I would jostle my tooth less. It started hurting by the end, but I felt a bit better than yesterday. |
Saturday Mar 15 |
 | Elliptical 30:00 [3] 3.3 mi (9:05 / mi) | |

| I had oral surgery on Monday and was put on a ridiculous amount of drugs (antibiotics, steroids, pain killers, etc.) I basically felt awful all week and more or less didn't eat until yesterday. My mouth still hurts, but I figured it was time to go to the gym, since I was starting to go stir-crazy. I felt pretty bad while on the elliptical probably from not eating for a week and my mouth was definitely hurting, but hopefully things will start getting better soon. In good news my ankle didn't hurt at all. |
Sunday Mar 9 |
 | Running 34:44 [3] 3.66 mi (9:29 / mi) | |
| shoes: Brooks Running |
| It was such a beautiful day, I decided to run outside even though I wasn't sure my ankle was up for it. I ran from my apartment to the river and then did the Weeks to Eliot loop. I was taking it slow and easy, but my ankle started hurting around the Eliot bridge and then hurt on and off for the rest of the run. It is feeling ok now that I am back, so hopefully all is well. |

Saturday Mar 8 |
 | Elliptical 40:02 [3] 4.61 mi (8:41 / mi) | |

| My ankle is still bothering me, and it was pouring today, so I went to the gym to do elliptical with Brendan. My ankle was aching a bit while I was on the elliptical but is feeling a bit better now. Hopefully icing it and stuff will help. |

| My ankle was hurting more today than yesterday, so I think I definitely overdid it on the elliptical yesterday. Today I didn't do anything ankle related to hopefully make up for yesterday. I did some leg strength and lots of core strength work. |
Monday Mar 3 |
 | Elliptical 32:06 [3] 3.54 mi (9:03 / mi) | |
| |
| Starting to ease back into training. My ankle still hurts a bit, so I figure I'll just elliptical for a while (as opposed to running) so that I can at least be doing something. I may have overdone it today, but it is such an ordeal to get to the gym and then actually get an elliptical that I probably stayed on it for a bit too long just to make myself feel better about the trip. |
 | Strength 10:00 [3] | |

| Did some core work, too, since there is no way that is going to hurt my ankle. |
