| Did the long training at Piigaste park. The orienteering was very difficult with lots of marshes and uncrossable vegetation and thousands of flies and mosquitoes. I was planning on doing the first half and then the last 2 controls, skipping the two legs that took you the entire way across the map, but got completely lost going to number 6. I met up with Rosalind, an Irish girl going to number 5. We were extremely confused and continued to be confused going to number 6. We think we found an unmapped, recently clear-cut field out there because we ended back up at the main road way sooner than we would have had we been at any of the mapped fields. Once we were on the main road, we just decided to run back. Unfortunately I forgot to tape my heels before going out, so now I have blisters. |

| Luckily the training in the afternoon was a sprint around Polva. I don't think I could have taken pushing through more vegetation and dealing with the copious bugs again. I made a couple of very small errors, but I didn't make any large mistakes until I went from number 8 to number 6 instead of 8 to 9. I guess that's the problem with looking at the numbers upside down. The sprint was a lot of fun and more or less bug-free, which was a big plus. |

| After 24 hours of travel, I am finally here! I snuck into the hostel last night and freaked out a woman who walked in and didn't expect me to be there. Went for my first training run in Estonia. The forest was very, very thick and completely full of marshes. I was still feeling kind of sick, and there was another course in the afternoon, so I decided to take it easy and not attempt to cross the marsh. This left me with only 4 possible controls. I basically used this as time to get used to the terrain here. |

| I spent 1.5 hours getting to and from the morning training, but probably only 30 minutes or so of that was running. It was supposedly 2km away from Polva, but I think it was farther than that. I had to run down this random highway with basically no shoulder, which was uncomfortable. I got stared at by people, barked at by dogs, and crowed at by roosters. |

| Orienteering felt a lot better this afternoon. They drove us to the forest this time, which was a definite improvement. I made more of an effort to avoid the dense vegetation this time, which made my life easier. I also found the flies that Pia warned me about. I will wear bug repellant next time. I was pretty in touch with the map, although I need to start relying more on the contours and less on the trails and vegetation boundaries, since at least the trails are questionably marked. |

| Strength training at physical therapy: lunges with 16lbs, back extensions with 10lbs, squats without weights this time but on a round thing that's hard to balance on, knee tucks, leg presses, and clams.
I have been sick since Saturday (fever, sore throat, stuffy head, nauseous), so I went to the doctor today. It is probably not strep, and the doctor told me to take the day off and rest today, so I am at home drinking liquids. Hopefully I will be better by Wednesday! |
