Orienteering 44:44 [3] *** 3.6 km (12:26 / km) +235m 9:22 / km

Red Middle at Pacheco! In general my navigation was spot on, but I could use some more fitness out there. The one glaring exception to the navigation proficiency was a stupid route choice to 10, which I then flubbed and ended up at 11 instead and cost me about 2 minutes. Oops! Luckily 10 and 11 were extremely close together, so I think the major time-loss was in the route choice error rather than the execution. I was feeling like death on the hills, but apparently I was moving fast enough for my first A meet win in a really, really long time! (Very plausibly my first F21 win?) Awesome!
Running 15:00 [3] 2.7 km (5:33 / km)

Endless "2km" run/walk to the start while I frantically attempted to make it in time for my 9:30am shift working the start.
Hiking 30:00 [3] 5.0 km (6:00 / km)
shoes: Brooks ASR
Hiking the "short" way to the start and back with Ian and Mladen to find my backpack (which unfortunately did a two-ships-passing-in-the-night thing) and collect a few controls. Fun!
Note
On the way back home, my joints started getting achier and achier, my throat started getting sore, and then I began turning the heat up and up and up. I guess some of the death-by-hills was actually due to whatever sickness is going around lab. I still need more fitness for these hills, but I imagine that this at least explains the feeling that the A meet was at altitude!
Aside from the sickness, today was an awesome day! It was really good to hang out with everyone and see lots and lots of people I don't get to see very often and the orienteering was tons of fun :-).
