Hiking 1:30:00 [3] 6.0 mi (15:00 / mi) +330m 12:49 / mi
shoes: Sacony Xodus

Hiking with Sam and Presto at some random Marin County Open Space! My knee seems fine, but since it also seemed fine before last weekend's run, we decided to just do this as an easy hike. It would make a nice run sometime in the future. We had some nice views across the Bay and over towards San Francisco.

I dreamed we would have bubble tea today, so we stopped by Ranch 99 on the way home and acquired nice noodles, rice cakes, assorted Asian snacky things, and bubble tea.

Stretching 10:00 [3]

I've been icing my knee all week. It's been feeling fine since Tuesday, but since I'm really not sure what's wrong with it, I decided to give it the week off. It feels totally normal after this hike, so I think I'll give running a try tomorrow.

Note

The right knee is doing much better today, but it's still a bit swollen (although not nearly as swollen as last night). This random swelling of the knee for no particular reason thing happened back in June of 2012, and the doctor then thought that it was probably an irritated meniscus.

Nick (one of the guys on the ARDF team who happens to be a doctor) thought that I probably bruised my meniscus when I hyperextended the knee in Bulgaria, so I'm guessing it's a similar thing. Since all the hiking went well, I thought I was done dealing with that injury, but I guess not... Sigh.

Luckily Berkeley weather is accommodating my invalid status and Presto and I are happily lounging about outside today being yelled at by a disgruntled squirrel.
