Hiking 2:00:00 [3] 6.5 mi (18:28 / mi) +200m 16:51 / mi

Hiking with Sam, Presto, Vince, Louise, Monika, Alex, Jens, and Ingrid at Lake Alpine! We had a lab retreat up near Bear Valley this weekend, so we set out with the gang to try for some snowshoeing. CA is having kind of a miserable winter, so there wasn't much in the way of snow. Some people still stubbornly attempted to snowshoe. Unfortunately, the snowshoes started bothering my hip almost immediately, so I took advantage of the extremely light snow cover and just hiked.

We parked at the snow park and hiked along the road to Lake Alpine, looped around the lake, and headed up to Inspiration point. It was fun to hang out with everyone, and Presto got lots of yummy treats at the top. Fun, fun!

Stretching while playing a pretty fun game whose name I have forgotten.

Running 31:35 [3] 3.1 mi (10:11 / mi)
shoes: Brooks Running 18

Running with Sam and Presto after lab! It's been a surprisingly long week. I was kind of unexcited about running, but happy to be doing it once I was out there. Hopefully next week is a bit calmer... My foot started feeling a little funny towards the end but nothing like the burning from before. I'll have to keep an eye on that.

Strength 5:00 [3]

Normal abs.

Stretching 10:00 [3]

Ugh. My hip felt fine while I was running but started hurting a bit after doing core stuff. I am displeased. I thought the only good part about the bike accident + flu was that I had been forced to rest enough to get rid of the foot and hip injuries... Sigh.

The good news is that after stretching, my hip and foot both felt totally normal, so they are clearly better than they were a month ago.

Running 30:00 [3] 3.1 mi (9:41 / mi)
shoes: Brooks Running 18

Running with Sam and Presto after lab! My hip was bothering me a tiny bit right at the top of the hill but felt completely fine on the downhill. Otherwise, I'm actually starting to feel more or less normal, which is nice.

Hiking 2:00:00 [3] 8.0 mi (15:00 / mi) +300m 13:26 / mi

Hiking around Briones with Sam, Russell, and Presto! It was another gorgeous day. I kind of wanted to go orienteering, but there's a really bad dog flu outbreak in the Bay Area, and it's particularly bad in the South Bay, which is where the orienteering was. Presto got vaccinated this morning, but the vaccine apparently doesn't take full effect until at least a week after the second shot, so he's got 3 more weeks to go to get immunity. Eep!

Anyway, Russell was in town, so we went on a hike with him instead! Briones really is gorgeous when it's all green and lovely. It was nice to catch up with Russell and be outside for a while. All my body parts felt good. Yay! Presto was quite happy to be off-leash sniffing around. After the hike we got delicious tacos. Yum!
