Hiking with Sam, Holly, Bryan, Tori, Carlo, and Presto! We had planned a fun winter ski weekend, but, alas, the snow is...lacking, so we just came for a nice weekend of hiking instead. This was a fun little hike near Reno to a medium sized waterfall. It seemed a bit sad starting out but then got pretty nice towards the top. It was surprisingly cold out. We were all quite chilled by the end, so we headed straight to a fun Taiwanese restaurant in Reno to warm up. Fun, fun!

Running with Presto after lab! Around 4:45 I was sure I would get out of lab before 6, but somehow I didn't manage to leave until 8pm. Lab time will forever be a mystery.

Anyway, after biking home I was surprisingly exhausted, but Presto wanted to go for a run and it was a Thursday, so out we went. The uphill half of the run was...rough and even coming down was work. But I got it done, so good for me.

Hiking up Mount Reba with Sam and Presto! After a night of much eating, everyone else decided to just head back to Berkeley. Sam and I figured that as long as we were up in the mountains, we should actually go hiking again, though. It took a while to get out of the house because people cooked kind of amazing breakfasts and then Jens and Ingrid's car wouldn't start, so we all hung around in case they needed help getting home. By the time we actually trundled out of the house, there wasn't much time before dark, so Sam and I decided to just see if we could make Mount Reba.

It was a pretty awesome hike, and we would have actually appreciated snowshoes, but of course we left them in the car today since we'd just carried them the whole way yesterday... I guess the extra 1000ft of climb really made a difference. With all the trudging through snow, it was pretty slow-going, but the views were beautiful, and it was nice to get a better hike in before heading back to the city. Mount Reba is just a high point along a ridge of similar altitude high points. We didn't technically make the summit because we were rapidly running out of daylight, but looking at a map, the high point we stopped on may actually be higher than the "official" summit? Anyway, we'll have to come back either with snowshoes or in the summer and make it all the way out on the ridge!
