Running 15:05 [3] 1.5 mi (10:03 / mi)
shoes: Brooks Running 18

Running with Sam and Presto on the firetrail! The knee was feeling fine, but I had a horrible headache, which I was hoping would get better with some outside time. I did feel a bit better once we got going, but was still pretty out of it and ended up tripping over a root and face-planting. I only got a little scraped up and bruised, but enough that I could feel it while we were running. Since we were trying to go super easy anyway today, we just turned around and headed back. It was really nice to get out, though!

Stretching 10:00 [3]

Normal stretching.

The knee feels fine this morning! (Yay!) My quad is a bit sore, though, so I was definitely working it harder/differently than usual. I will take it easy this weekend, which I think, sadly, means no orienteering Saturday. Boo. Perhaps just an easy jog on the fire trail or a light hike or something. I just have to keep reminding myself that discretion is the better part of valor, and I want this injury to heal quickly!

Running 14:41 [3] 1.3 mi (11:18 / mi)
shoes: Brooks Running 18

Super easy-peasy run with Sam and Presto! My knee felt fine biking up the hill and has been feeling fine walking on flats, stairs, and hills, so I decided to try a short easy run. I just ran a little ways up the hill with Sam and Presto and then turned around a jogged back down the hill. My knee felt completely fine, but my quad felt like it was working a bit harder than usual. Hopefully everything continues feeling fine!

Strength 5:00 [3]

Normal abs.

Stretching 10:00 [3]

Normal stretching + heat pack before bed.

Knee's feeling quite normal now. Stairs feel fine, walking feels fine. I had to take my car into the shop today, so I didn't ride my bike to work. I guess I'll see how biking up the hill feels tomorrow.

Didn't manage to fit in stretching tonight before falling asleep after rehearsal, but I did put a hot pad on it while going to bed.

Stretching 10:00 [3]

Normal stretching before bed.

The knee is feeling good walking around. It does feel slightly different than the left knee when going up and down stairs, but the two knees are similar enough that I'm not sure I would notice it if I weren't thinking about it. Biking up the steep part of the hill was aggravating it a little bit, so I walked my bike up the last part of the hill.

I also put a hot pad on it at bedtime, but didn't take any ibuprofen tonight.

The knee's feeling even better this morning than it did yesterday morning. Yay! I can walk normally without pain. (In retrospect, I think I was walking a little funny the entire day yesterday.) And even going up and down the step into the kitchen seems ok.

I'm not sure how biking up the hill will be, and since I have no meetings or major experiments planned for today I decided to take it as easy as I possibly can and took the bus to work. I am reminded why I never do this. I waited at the bus stop for longer than it would have taking me to *walk* to work. I hope you're happy, knee!

Stretching 10:00 [3]

Normal stretching before bed. I also took an ibuprofen and put a hot pack on my knee before going to sleep. (Well, technically I fell asleep with the hot pack... It is much more cuddly than the ice pack!)

The knee didn't hurt at all walking around today, although stairs weren't perfect. It did feel oddly weak. I'm going to bike to and from work tomorrow because the knee's feeling pretty good, I have a meeting tomorrow morning, and dealing with the bus is pretty difficult, but I'm not going to run even if the knee is feeling totally normal.

Stretching 10:00 [3]

Normal stretching after my concert. The knee is feeling noticeably better today. At the beginning of the day, I could walk more or less normally without pain, although going up and down the step to the kitchen was not ok.

I took it super easy in the morning (Sam walked Presto without me :-( ). Then I just did the walking necessary to get to my concert and go into lab to move a few flasks. By the end of the day it was slightly painful to walk normally, but it was possible to limp without pain (a big improvement over yesterday). Stretching, once again, was helpful.

I took 1 ibuprofen before bed and iced in the evening.
