Hiking 3:00:00 [3] 8.5 mi (21:11 / mi) +800m 16:23 / mi
shoes: Saucony Peregrine

Hiking up Mount Ralston with Sam and Presto! Sam came home at about 10:30pm last night and announced he wanted to go to the mountains today, so here we are. I've never done Ralston and since it is right on 50, it seemed like a good choice for a day when we didn't actually start packing until after 11pm. It is a really nice hike with awesome views of Aloha Lake and Lake Tahoe. The hike is surprisingly steep, and we were moving pretty slowly on the way up, but we still made decent time to the top. On the way down, we did a bit of poking around off-trail through the manzanita to find a really awesome view of some amazing cliffs and Horsetail Falls (which is only barely a waterfall - maybe it's better in spring?). Awesome day!

Running with Presto after lab! This week has been pretty stressful, so it was nice to have a chance to calm down a bit on a run before starting the weekend.

Running 32:52 [3] 3.1 mi (10:36 / mi)
shoes: Brooks Running 19

Easy-peasy run with Sam and Presto! Nice chatty run. The Halloween decorations seem less good this year than last year, but it was still good to get out!

Strength 5:00 [3]

My right hip didn't ever hurt but I noticed it a bit on the first set of tuck-ups, so I replaced the second set with a minute of planks.

We decided that perhaps Presto needs more mental stimulation, so we got him a puzzle ball to eat his dinner out of. Basically we fill it with kibble and then Presto has to roll it around in a particular way to get kibble out of the ball. Presto took about 5 minutes to get the idea that there was FOOD INSIDE THE BALL. Then he spent the next hour or so rolling the ball all over the house trying to get the kibble out. It was extremely hilarious and super cute!

Running 32:50 [3] 3.5 mi (9:23 / mi)
shoes: Brooks Running 19

Running with Presto! I squeezed in a quick run between carving pumpkins and my concert tonight. Presto was SUPER draggy. I guess running around with a huge costume on yesterday might have tired him out a bit :-). Otherwise, the run was good and it was nice to be out and about.

Strength 5:00 [3]

Normal abs. My right hip was bothering me a little on tuck-ups, so I cut the second set short.
