Double commute. Ugh. The air quality is incredibly bad today. Biking was pretty painful. The air in lab isn't really better than the air outside because our air has to be fully exchanged every 12 minutes and apparently they don't have any filters on the air pulled in from the outside...

Running after lab with Sam and Presto! Today perhaps wasn't the best choice of a running day with the new fire up near Chico blowing a lot of smoke down into the Bay Area, but we wanted to go for a run, so we did. I felt fine on the run, but I could feel it in my throat when we got back.

Presto hurt his foot this morning, but seemed totally fine when I walked him at lunch and this evening, so we let him come along for the run. He was totally fine on the run, but hurt it again chasing his dinner ball under the table. I guess we probably won't be doing much in the way of running for a few days if the smoke gets worse, so he'll get a chance to rest it a bit.

Running with Sam and Presto after lab! We managed to tear ourselves away from the election returns around 8:20pm. Some networks had already called the House, but NYT, NPR, and PBS had not, so we were still pretty on edge. Tonight wasn't perfect by a long shot (I'm particularly sad about Stacy Abrams), but it was SOOOOO much better than 2 years ago!

I don't normally log my commute, but it seems like Presto can't make it for an entire work day without a walk anymore, so I'm coming home at lunch until we can install a doggy door in our apartment. (Luckily our landlord is cool with these kind of things...) Biking up the hill twice in one day just seems like it deserves some logging.

Running with Presto down to lab! My legs were a bit shot from yesterday, but I needed to go into lab to inoculate some cultures, so I figured I might as well make a run out of it. The run up the hill was pretty painful, but after about half a mile of downhill things loosened up and things became extremely enjoyable. Presto was clearly also a bit tired, but also seemed happier on the downhill. I find this vaguely amusing because we were moving so slowly on the uphill that it seems like he would have barely noticed that we were moving.
