Running 1:04:33 [3] 5.6 mi (11:32 / mi)
shoes: Brooks Running 20

Running with Sam and Presto! We got some chocolate babka set out to rise and then headed out for a run up to Tilden. The trails are completely dried out now and the goats are out in force. Sadly it appears that goats do a good job eating the grass, but don't really seem to do anything to the poison oak, so it appears that we are now carefully cultivating poison oak bushes. Sigh. The run was still really nice, though. We went to the high point on the Selby trail, and then came down via the stairs rather than the roads. The stairs are more fun from a fun trail point of view, but there's less opportunity to open up and really enjoy the downhill (which is obviously the whole point of running that much uphill :-) ), especially when Presto and I are kind of fighting over staircase space, so this isn't usually my preferred route for the downhill. It was nice to get a bit of a different route in, though, and the staircases are pretty cool. Fun, fun!

Stretching 10:00 [3]

Stretching while the babka baked. Yummmmm babka!

Running with Sam and Presto after lab! There was some truly excellent fog over SF tonight. It was clear in Berkeley but the fog was rolling in through the Golden Gate and nicely covering San Francisco and Marin with the tops of hills and skyscrapers poking through. So pretty!

Strength 5:00 [3]

Normal abs.

Running 33:00 [3] 3.5 mi (9:26 / mi)
shoes: Brooks Running 20

Running with Presto between lab visits! Everything in lab just took way longer than I expected today. I eventually got to the point where the only mission critical thing left was autoclaving media for tomorrow, so I went home and took Presto for a run while the autoclave was running. My calves were a bit tired from the weekend, but I was actually feeling fairly decent otherwise. It was SUPER FOGGY tonight, which made things fun and spooky.

Stretching 10:00 [3]

Skipped abs because I just scurried on down to lab as soon as I was done running and stretched after showering and eating dinner.

Running with Presto up Mt. Tam! After watching the World Cup final, we were hoping to go orienteering, but, alas, it is coyote pupping season, so dogs aren't allowed in all of the Presidio. So instead we headed for Mt. Tam. It was a good day for a run up a mountain, not too hot (although cooler would have been better...) and sunny. We took it pretty easy on the way up, stopping at West Point Inn for some water and a Gu, and then continuing on up the Railroad Grade trail to the road to the summit. I thought dogs weren't allowed past the Gravity Car barn, but apparently I was either wrong or they've changed it since the last time we were here, so we jogged up to the fire watch tower to get the views from the summit. Presto was a big hit at the summit and after admiring the view, we headed back down. I gave Presto some water from the water fountain by the parking lot, and then he also drank some decidedly gross looking water from a few puddles on the way down. My watch died out there, either from me sweating too much or perhaps from when I dunked myself under a waterfall, so the time is approximate. Super fun run!

Stretching 10:00 [3]

Normal stretching back home.
