Note

And...the Bay Area is under a shelter-in-place directive starting at midnight tonight until at least April 7. We spent a frantic afternoon and evening prepping the lab for a 3 week shutdown, since only COVID-19 research will be allowed to continue. Hopefully this gives all the testing centers time to get tests up and running in a high-throughput enough fashion that we can do some serious testing by the time the shelter-in-place is lifted. (Since the pandemic obviously won't be over by then...)

We're still allowed to go out for runs and to the grocery store, so I think I'll be fine, if a bit stir crazy. I'm SOOOO glad Tilden is close enough to run to!

Orienteering 1:49:50 [3] *** 9.4 mi (11:41 / mi)
104c shoes: Brooks Running 22

Stanford Sprint Camp with Presto! After some brief debate, Sam and I decided that it would be ok to go to Stanford and spend the day orienteering with a few people. There was basically no one on campus, since all the undergrads were sent home and it was drizzling, so not too many non-dog walkers were out and about. It was pretty nice for orienteering :-).

My watch doesn't really do splits. (It takes splits, but doesn't allow you to look at them.) So, this includes the entire time, distance, and controls for the one person relay, O-tervals, forking course, and score-O. I can't say I actually did any running at sprinting speed per se, but I did have a lot of fun running around on a fun, new (to me) map! There were a lot of fun, tricky levels sections. Presto really enjoyed it whenever Sam ran past, but then he would drag pretty badly once Sam was out of sight because he kept thinking Sam was behind us.

Super, super fun day! Thanks to Tori, Carlo, Riley, and Kevin for the courses and the map!

Running 1:15:36 [3] 6.7 mi (11:17 / mi) +400m 9:31 / mi
shoes: Brooks Running 22

Running with Presto in the rain! I wanted to get out for a run before making pie for Pi Day, so I headed out. It's actually raining here, which is a nice March Miracle. Perhaps we will have some water left in our reservoirs after the summer. Presto and I headed up to Tilden and then ran to Lake Anza. I was definitely struggling on the steep, muddy uphills, so we didn't go all the way to the top today. Presto was displeased by the rain and complained in his passive aggressive way by just sort of dragging the entire time. Ah Presto :-). Super nice run out in the misty, damp forest!

Stretching 10:00 [3]

Quick stretch before going to brave the grocery store.

Running 32:27 [3] 3.1 mi (10:28 / mi)

Running with Sam and Presto after lab! I have very little recollection of this run. (It's been an eventful 5 days.) I assume it was pleasant and a good way to relax after work :-).

Running 33:58 [3] 3.5 mi (9:42 / mi)
shoes: Brooks Running 22

Running with Presto after lab! Wow! There was a mindblowingly beautiful sunset tonight! Definitely an advantage of daylight savings time :-). I fell really hard at one point on Sunday and my butt is still kind of sore from that, which made running a bit painful, but other than that this was a good day to be outside.
