Toddled across to Sluie for a change. Always a nice place and best when the bracken is dying down.
Various wanderings amongst the trail bike tracks. Taping of various bike race routes seems almost semi-permanent just now. It's not going to help future use of the area for orienteering but DR could probably run a night hill race round them I guess. The 6 day race here seems a very long time ago!

Felt good and particularly strong on the hills.

Suitably disturbed at the prospect of JT starting 3 mins behind me. Not my preferred option but tried to obliterate it from the mind.
1,2, and 3 nice and clean. Slightly indecisive initially 3-4 but opted for round the track but probably didn't run it hard enough then didn't pick a good line up the hill to 4 so was clambering over grot. Initially thought to go round to 5 but saw a good line up,through re-entrant to the hill top so didn't stay on the track for long. Faffed and lost time in the green at 8 still going ok at 9. Then distracted by Maroc junior at 10, trod on his map when he dropped it and promptly veered 30 degrees off line in the green. 5 mins lost and JT went past unseen. 11 and 12 fine then maybe 1mins time loss at 13 confusing water features. Too low at 15, another minute. Clean enough round the last loop.

Apart from 10 happy enough. Hard to be clean in that sort of place and competitive again which I'm also happy with. Not consistent enough to compete with JT yet but fast enough...that's the plus. Enjoying trying to beat DonP again ..failing today unfortunately :-)....but compensation in being close-ish and best of the rest.

Need to watch slight right adductor soreness but happy with fitness just now.

Nice to see the consistency that some of the M14/16s are putting together (particularly Maroc :-))

Never mind CH and his stunning half record, family one far more important :-)
