Warm up/down 20:00 [3]
shoes: Mudclaws RED

Pre and post BOC Middle

Orienteering race (BOC Middle ) 35:05 [5] 4.5 km (7:48 / km)
shoes: Mudclaws RED

Job done 43 + years on. 1st M60. British Champion.

Obviously I enjoyed this!
Can't remember ever having so many controls so close together in so many clumps before. Needed to take things carefully in the very lumpy and pitted terrain.

Had sussed out the last three visible controls from the arena by watching CL go through them early on...but they were 3 in 22 in 4.5k.

The first clump of 4 went reasonably well although bit of a wobble at 3. Used tracks on the first half of the long leg to 5 then through the next group of 4 was pretty clean. Another wobble at 13 and that was about it.

Thought the time was competitive but very pleased to hear on the commentary that I had over a minutes lead. Then just waited a nervous four minutes for KT to finish.

Pleased to hold things together. The type of place where if you kept the wobbles to wobbles then you'd not be far off.

RP 36.22
JC 36.27
KT 37.41
JE 38.28

Suddenly three BOC medals in a year. Shame the sprint spoilt things.

Orienteering race 19:00 [4]
shoes: Saucony Progrid (Orange)

British Sprints Final - Bath Uni
Colour blind mayhem. Too tough to read map properly in underpass and couldn't see circles in other places. Couldnt get out of underpass service area! Hmmm. Not a lot of fun

Not running quite quickly enough to have been in the medals anyway although I'm not entirely convinced about multi-level sprints. Seems to me that there's a little too much left to chance.

Note

Feeling pretty under the weather. Probably a result of Mondays efforts. Run down

Trail 51:09 [3] 8.01 km (6:23 / km) +167m 5:47 / km
shoes: Roclite 295

Sunny. Loop of Craigmore. Very much recovery after Monday but threw in a few strides. A few small niggles but nothing too much.

Note

Two bridges at Glen Tanar with T, H & C then Tom's Cairn later on. Nice wanderings but definitely not training. Got hungry. Glad of a rest day after yesterday.

Trail / Road Run 2:46:11 [3] 33.2 km (5:00 / km) +239m 4:50 / km
shoes: Hoka Red

Down to Potties, back up to Allancreich, then the Birse back road to Aboyne. Drink and sustenance on Aboyne bridge courtesy of T after 14k and 70 mins. Then on via DW. Another service stop at Cambus where also joined by T on a bike to Ballater.
Needed to tough it out today. It was hard. Coffee in Ballater was mediocre but the cheese scone was good.
