Trail / Road Run 55:51 [3] 9.3 km (6:00 / km) +93m 5:43 / km
shoes: Hoka Red

Early enough at Gardermoen to get in a run before dark. Even in Norway it's sometimes hard to find a tolerable route out of an airport. There's almost always at least a 2k run out and the same back with hopefully something in between that isn't just concrete, buses and cars.

Never had the opportunity to run at Gardermoen before so...
2k out via the various roundabouts and car parks, then an off road 'Naturesti' single track path leading to a deep and largely dry river valley. Nice path but very slippery clay after, presumably, recent rain fall. Nearly came a cropper a few times. No grip in the road shoes. Was heading for a very small wartime british aircrash cemetery deep in the wood but dipped out owing to the path surface. Shame but a real bonus to get out.

Note

So I need to eat my hat. Well done SWOC and thanks....but no trace of a punch at control 40. :-(
Faulty SI card or senile incompetence. I know what my money's on.

Trail / Road Run 2:10:00 [3] 20.01 km (6:30 / km) +555m 5:42 / km
shoes: Saucony Progrid (Orange)

Slight change in travel timetable brought about by recent events so able to squeeze a long one in this morning. Slow but steady up the Glen Cat road then same up Carnferg. Breezy on high. Then back down through Balfour and home through Potties.
Fairly comfortable throughout. Slight left ankle niggle on left rear side. One to watch as I've felt it before.

Note

Lots of thinning going on in Balfour.

Orienteering race (VHI Relays) 36:00 [3] 4.2 km (8:34 / km)

Good fun head to head, and challenging techy, racing.
Great relay. Challenging area of old open cast mining.
Leg 2 on the WMW after LP did a steady Leg 1.
Went out close to the other three Scottish teams and had a little bit of a battle mainly with them but with FP in particular when he caught me up between 2 and 3 after i took an age to get into the map to 1.. We both caught DF between 3 and 4 and he joined the party.
A lot of fun.
Great weekend but shame about the results. Reasonably happy with own O, SI notwithstanding.
