Trail / Road Run 23:05 [3] 3.3 km (7:00 / km) +37m 6:37 / km
shoes: Hoka Red

Early morning in Queenstown. Parkruns start at 0800 in summer here. Vary Parky with fresh snow on the Remarkables but a lovely bright morning. Gloves, tights and Lifa. One loop of the main lap for warm up.

Queenstown Parkrun. Only its 21st showing.
Small loop and two large loops and a lot of twists and turns and a few small hills. Would have liked to go under 21 but happy enough. 8th in my 8th. Got to be one of the most scenic Parkruns around too. Snowy mountain tops, clear skies and half of each lap along the lakeside. Nice. 75 out, many of them visitors.

Trail / Road Run 8:00 [3]

Back out the parkrun loop to meet T, by way of warm down.

A bit of a recce of the QT route.
Parked at top end of Lake Hayes and did a circuit of it....covering about 7k of the race route. Flooded in places after recent rains and a bit lumpy along west side. It's certainly not a flat course. Good to know this bit anyway.

Road Running 52:22 [3] 7.6 km (6:53 / km) +206m 6:04 / km

When in Dunedin....it has to be the Worlds Steepest Street.
Parked at the Botanics and ran out to Baldwin Street. Impressed the tourists but it wasn't long enough to be of any real difficulty. Then back down, up a parallel street then along the ridge to the Botanics. Wandered about there for a bit and a nearby park before back to the car.
Feeling ok but not sure whether I'm really managing to do enough before QT.

In the Catlins. Jogged up to McLean Falls with T. Lovely path through the bush then nice falls.

Road Running 1:40:17 [3] 20.1 km (4:59 / km) +330m 4:37 / km

Land access restrictions make it difficult, nay impossible, sometimes to run where you might want to in NZ. So as I needed a long one it had to be an out and back on the road from Lisa's place in The Catlins. Gravel road and a very steady climb on the way out with the return being generally a nice gradient back down. Deserted except for two cars during the whole session, but a little too coarse gravelly to be altogether pleasant. Worked hard on the outward very upward stretch in the early evening light. Lots of sheep, a few oystercatchers and ducks but nothing much else for company.
