Pre Crathes PR. Mulling over what shoes to wear. Half road, half trail, some of which, the wide ride at about 3.5k, I knew could be a mudbath. Settled on Mudclaws to be safe.

Crathes Parkrun.
Couldn't put it off. No excuses, apart from snowing. Nothing else on. Time I bit the bullet and raced again anyway even though I hadn't done a thing of any tempo since Detox 10k at new year. Hence didn't expect any sort of easy ride.

Hills on the, albeit, temporary course are pretty tough. Gentleish downhill to 1.2k then sharp turn and back up again for 900m, another this time sharp downhill for 400m, then flattish trails for 2k then another sharp uphill for the remaining 500m.

Hurt as much as I expected it to. Usual difficulties with the uphills. Time about as expected. No issues of note with achilles so happy enough. Served its purpose. Time to get quicker though!

Looked nice out and fancied a run in the snow. Craigmore loop and back round community path. Starting to feel more like a runner again.

Have been wanting to explore the lovely looking Haugh Plantation just to the north of Birse for a long time. Did just that.
Bit of a fartlek session through the many undulations. More brashings and undergrowth than I'd hoped but some nice bits. Pleasant short tracks down by the Dee too.
Feeling OK.

Crisscrossed Craigmore via trig 4 times. From house with T. Warmup to foot of normal "up" then up each of the 4 usual ways in turn. Sluggish. Too much soup and cheese at lunch time I reckon.

RTH Guiding - 5 folk
Balmoral 10K in reverse..roughly. Better weather than expected but still squally butu a fair bit of sun. Yesterday in my legs but so had everyone else so good sedentary recovery. Nice.
Good to get through the 45k over the three days with no aches / pains / mishaps and a real bonus re: the weekends weather. Hopefully kick on a bit from here.
