Orienteering 30:00 [3]
shoes: ORoc 340

Delingsdalen O training.
Cloudkess sky but freezing in the forest at 9 am. Gentle session, wandering through the rough forest, finding the nice bits and looking to understand the mapping again. Finished up on the bare rock down by the fjord side. Nice.

D met an elk.

Orienteering race 1:00:00 [4]
shoes: ORoc 340

Lordagskjappen 2019 Trollhetta near Moss
Didn't have great aspirations other than to have fun in Norwegian terrain.
This would be tough, rocky and tricky.
Blew things on the long leg to #1. Missed a small reentrant at the end by not a lot it seems but took an age to figure things out.
Pulled things together and was steady through most of the rest as I started to get a hang of things.

Well down the results but a lot of fun in really challenging terrain in great weather. Imo the terrain round here is as physically and technically challenging as anywhere bar none.
... Lundanes didn't quite catch me on the run in.

Caper beside the road on the way home.

Orienteering 45:00 [3]
shoes: ORoc 340

Nipped across the water for a weekend of O in Norway with D.
Needed an afternoons reminder before weekend races, not that I'd really forgotten how rough and tough Oslo O is. It still is.
Made plenty of mistakes too.

One of life's strange coincidences this afternoon too. Training on a fairly random area and the first car to go past when we were about to head out for training was driven by MS.

Rest today.

Trail 4:25:00 [3] 23.05 km (11:30 / km) +867m 9:41 / km
shoes: ORoc 340

Great weather. Free day. Bynack More from Glenmore Lodge with T.

Still nippy when setting off at 1030 but soon warmed up. Plenty of snow still on high but in large patches and deep in places. Pretty soft by the time we got near the summit too although one or two icy patches so glad to have the dobs on. Rucsac.

Very much a run / walk. Brilliant snowy Cairngorm views with not a breath of wind. Clouds starting to come in a bit by the time we got down. Too late for the Mountain Cafe.

Trail 59:59 [4] 8.89 km (6:45 / km) +279m 5:50 / km
shoes: Mudclaws RED

Deeside Runners Glen Tanar
W/U and W/D
10 x 2/1 hill reps.
What an evening, great on high place to be. Views everywhere.
Tough session. Good turnout.

Trail 32:11 [3] 4.17 km (7:43 / km) +78m 7:03 / km
shoes: Mudclaws RED

Lovely afternoon spin round the Birse Castle loop in Forest of Birse with T. Glorious late afternoon.

S&C 30:00 [3]

Same again

Sunday Apr 7 #

Trail 1:52:23 [3] 20.08 km (5:36 / km) +508m 4:58 / km
shoes: Hoka Red

Glen Catt, Birse Castle and to Aboyne via The Fungle.
With SW (last long run pre marathon).

Warmer than expected except up at the snow line above Birse Castle and not a day for great views. Kept going pretty strongly throughout although substantially left behind on the two main hills.

Bailed as planned at Aboyne bridge whilst SW went off for another 10-12k. Kept warm running back and forth whilst waiting for lift to arrive.

Well pleased with how it went. Good confidence booster.

S&C 20:00 [3]

Re-initiated this session. Need to continue it.
