Friday Apr 19 #

Note

Low key wanderings from Rhue at head of Loch Broom. Lots of yesterday in the legs so happy to potter about. Cracking spot, cracking weather.

Thursday Apr 18 #

Walk 7:01:48 [3] 27.92 km (15:06 / km) +2129m 10:56 / km
shoes: Mudclaws RED

Beinn Dearg, Cona' Mheall, Meall nan Ceapraichean & Eididh nan Clach Geala with T.

Quick and impromptu west coast trip. Decision based on weather forecast. Good choice.

From Inverlael. Bit breezy on high and patchy snow still. Went up in Mudclaws and a good pace throughout but too long and tough a day for T to allow us to do any running. Light(ish) rucsac too. Somewhat hazy but still some cracking views especially coming back off late in the day. Super views of An Teallach.

Big day, big climb, good day. No regrets about not being in the SE. :-)

Wednesday Apr 17 #

Trail / Terrain Run 55:00 [3] 8.2 km (6:42 / km) +250m 5:49 / km
shoes: Roclite 295

Midstrath stables, then up through Corsedardar to the top gate onto the open ground ; down to the Birkenhill Farm Road through lovely flattened dry dead bracken. Much better than the bog or the shoulder high bracken that it often is. Back to the Mill of Cattie Road then a short loop home via part of Potties. Lovely day out.

Monday Apr 15 #

Note

Intended a short local jaunt but somewhat weary and the weather looked a bit wild so didnt take long to think better of it.
9 AM

S&C 1:00:00 [3]
shoes: Hoka Red

RMs Keep Fit session in Aboyne
I'll feel it tomorrow.

Sunday Apr 14 #

Orienteering (Smaalenenelopet) 1:00:52 [3] 5.1 km (11:56 / km)
shoes: ORoc 340

-4 this morning but short sleeves at midday. Not much snow left in the forest.

Better run today.
Few line features, plenty of contours and rock as usual. Best runnability on the tops of the hills.

Lost 3 mins overshooting #2 but pleased that was the only mistake of note although took it pretty slowly and carefully. Happy to have kept the focus for the duration and content to finish 15 mins down...although some may find that a bit strange. The guys here all know how to orienteer in this stuff. It's interesting that the fields in older age groups in Norway are very strong a long way down. Not many of them take a relative age to get round.

Good weekend. Reminder of how on the ball you have to be out here. 4 forests and the body held up really well. No damage of note.

Dip in an iced up lake after... well, sat in it for about 3 seconds.
