Probably shouldn’t have done this but still.
Took a pre race ibuprofen for the achilles. I suppose it largely worked until entering the forest but then things got pretty sore. Didn’t have the feel or confidence or security to go hard at all from the beginning. So in that sense 5 mins down was ok especially with a 3 mins loss at 8, half of which was probably a not clever route choice.
That’s probably it for this 6D though. Sort achilles time. Shame but a certain satisfaction from day 2 and positives from others.

Too many misses especially #6 and #11.
Sore Achilles :-( Not good.

Put things to rights.
2nd M60, 6s down.
Lost 90s at 6 but not much else. Lucky with late start but...
possibly best ever 6day result in 16th 6day...i reckon.

There's always time for a first.
Picked up the wrong course map... first time ever. Ran round M65. Whoops. Realised at #1. Then collected controls. 6 hours at the start beforehand frazzled the brain obviously. Didn't orienteer very well anyway. No achilles pain though.
Nearly wiped myself out on a barbed wire fence when a post crumbled just as I took off. Air was extremely blue. Lacerations to my back gave the first aid folk something to do. Back will be sore tomorrow.
