Note

Not much achilles progress. Hard to gauge how much active effort to put in. Downhills in particular irritate it fairly easily. Occasionally and fairly random burning sensations in various places above the heel but no pain from the usual, and accepted, exercise regimes. Physio visit to JC on 17th - hopefully worth the wait.

Mtn Bike 20:00 [3]

Academy Run Club x 16. Fun lot as ever.
With ME, IW and WB. WB and I on bikes.
Out the Tarland Way.

Mtn Bike 32:32 [3] 8.55 km (3:48 / km) +165m 3:28 / km

Post run club. Headed out and up Corybeg but sugar bonk 2/3rd up so turned round and went home for tea.

Note

Couple of days of other stuff including a fair bit for Toms Cairn 10k. Great race, great day. Done and dusted. Thanks JR and AT for helping with results.

Mtn Bike 1:46:00 [3] 28.0 km (3:47 / km) +380m 3:33 / km

Helium
With T

Had to pick up a bottle of whisky for one of the prizes for Sunday’s TC 10k so seemed like a good opportunity to head out from near the distillery. No sign off Boris or his cronies outside Balmoral.

Lobbed the bikes over the locked deer gate and headed for Glen Muick. Stopped a short while at Inchnabobart then it was a case of trundle down the west side of Glen Muick avoiding all the hydro electric works....and the policeman with his armament at the gates of Birkhall.

Did intend taking in Glen Girnock from Littlemill on the way back but decided against it so it was back along the South Deeside road to the turnoff and up the distillery road from the east end to where we started.

Note

Finished the scything today

Mtn Bike 1:11:03 [3] 19.71 km (3:36 / km) +385m 3:17 / km

Overdid the run and exercises yesterday I think so back to the bike for a bit. A good stint of scything warmed things up a bit then decided to make it a hard effort up Corybeg late on.

Love the lightness of the now 11 year old Helium and for once felt like giving it a bit of welly up the steep hill. As usual various gullied bits from rains, and gravel sections made things a little challenging in parts but it seemed to pass pretty well. Happy as ever to reach the top.

Down into Forest of Birse by the long diagonal track, back along the road to the South Gate of the estate. Back past Finzean House.

Pretty chilly at times. Need to dig out thicker gloves soon!

Trail 37:43 [3] 5.48 km (6:53 / km) +133m 6:08 / km

Usual Potties tracks. Striding out a wee bit more - testing things a little. Generally good - longest run since the 6 Day - but achilles starting to complain a bit on downhills.

Starting additional strengthening exercises - mixture of hopping and skipping. No issues arising from large numbers of weighted heel drops.
