Zagreb Sprint #1 - 3rd M55+
Simple stuff but very achilles wary. All OK with that but overshot something simple and the outcome of both was that I was 3rd but huge amounts off the pace.

Zagreb Sprint #2 - 2nd M55+
This was better all round... not quite so simple and didn't miss. 2nd and 40s down. More confidence in running hard too.

2nd overall in M55+
Good test of things. Pleased with the outcome.
No warmups or downs as wanted to save the foot.
More of a challenge will be tomorrow.

Pootling around Zagreb on a bike with T. Great weather, great city.

Objective was to put in another 5k but at some sort of decent tempo but maintaining achilles ache at a low level and back off as appropriate.

Home Farm loop. Achilles / ankle noticeable but not at any particular speed or type of terrain and certainly maybe 3/10 in terms of discomfort.

Note

Still probably slightly early to be competitive this weekend.

Note

Physio. JC at ASV.
5 types of exercises to strengthen feet, reduce twisting of, and stress on, achilles. Running fine up to 6/10 pain level. Continue with higher heel drops for the time being.

Usual Potties trails. Keeping things gently undulating in the main. Experimenting with various sections of different speeds and stride lengths.

Van in Dyce for MOT/service so...

Tried out the Formatine and Buchan Way to Ellon for a bacon roll with T. Quite interesting once out of the environs of Dyce. Pleasant interlude by the Ythan in Ellon before heading back again. Fun and certainly way better than waiting round in Dyce or heading into Aberdeen.

Went to Academy Run Club but happy to be superfluous today. ME, SR and WB out.

Note

No Achilles pain today. Still slightly thicker on left but significantly better. Definite progress. Maybe back to some sort of ‘normality’ shortly.

Another gentle episode. A bit of terrain this time and a bit quicker on the way back too. Progressing.

Note

Physio Tuesday and that will determine how the next week or so looks. Good to run a couple of 5ks in the last two days. Feeling that i haven't lost too much fitness or at least that it should come back fairly quickly. Meantime I'll continue mixing the gentler flatter runs with significant hill climbs on the bike.
