Trail 1:31:00 [3] 15.36 km (5:55 / km) +311m 5:23 / km
shoes: Pegasus 35

With SW.
Intended Lamahip and Corybeg loop but man with gun shouted at us as we started up the hill just beyond Murley. Quick change of plan needed so retraced steps a bit then headed for Creagandummie. Really toiled up... lots of improvement needed...then had the luxury of the lovely run down to Kinminity. Back via Ballogie House drive and community path.

It hurt but happy to be relatively intact after 15k. Feeling the worse for wear now though. The planned hours run got a bit blown apart.

Note

Rest day. Have previously had calf problems when transitioning to running after a trip involving a lot of biking so taking it a little easy this week with a fair bit of stretching.

Finally got AP from last 6 weeks largely up to date...maybe a bit more detail to come in places.

Orienteering (DNC Coull) 56:00 [3]
shoes: Mudclaw 300 Yellow

A few firsts.
First DNC of the winter for us and first forest O since 6 Day day 4.
The good bits: it was fun; it wasn't that cold; no achilles problems.
The bad: I was soon knackered in terrain, particularly on the uphills; I found a fair few bad bits in Coull and it's a tough place anyway ; I made two big mistakes.

Hopefully it helped the jetlag :-)

Trail 40:44 [3] 5.84 km (6:58 / km) +132m 6:16 / km
shoes: Pegasus 35

Usual Potties tracks.
Probably at least a 25 degree negative swing in temperature compared to yesterday.
Good to get out post lengthy travelling. Felt OK and nice to be running in these woods again. First headtorch run since last winter and first in tights for a good bit too. Achilles OK.

Road Running 25:17 [3] 5.02 km (5:02 / km)
shoes: Pegasus 35

Catch up time.
Up with the lark in Hanoi for a jaunt round Vietnam’s “most popular lake” before travelling later today. 3 laps.
Lots of walkers and cyclists and a fair few runners inter mingled with tai chi practitioners and others doing various strange forms of exercise. Great to see so many out in such a manically busy city....but it was 0540.
Was going to warm in to it gently but ended up being pretty steady throughout. Not too smoggy.
Met T after and wandered back via the early morning fruit market.

Pleased to have managed 13 x bike efforts, 9 x runs, 4 x kayaks and 4 decent length walks on this trip, not to mention a few swimming gestures and plenty of additional wandering time on foot. All this constitutes more than expected in 5 weeks away. The crazy nature of some of the places and the climate rather meant expectations were set fairly low in the first place though.

Still getting right Achilles gyp but lack of routine has meant the exercise routines have only been sporadically followed and therefore have somewhat suffered. No Delhi belly of note either which has been great and also probably unexpected,

The change in temperature is going to take a bit of getting used to.

Note

Will catch up with the last few weeks AP over the next few days. Maybe it will pass the time in airports.

Note

Was tempted to run early on but resisted on the basis that I don’t want to do three days in a row on the roads after the lack of running regularity recently. Save it for tomorrow.

Hanoi wandering. Lots...and hot. Plenty coffee, Vietnamese and otherwise....and lots of activity watching.
