Orienteering 55:00 [3]
shoes: Mudclaw 300 Yellow

Birsemore talk O with T.
Green from last weeks event. Rough and tough and plenty of climb. Faffed a bit late on but generally reasonably smooth.

Thigh almost back to normal.

Trail 58:00 [3] 8.2 km (7:04 / km)
shoes: Mudclaw 300 Yellow

Round the Crathes trails testing the leg. Not the best but no pain as such. Lovely afternoon.

Note

More digging and barrrowing.

Note

New York (hurricane) Malaga (floods), Berlin (tooth) , Pustertaler (snow, lack of) and.....London (virus). What's next?

Turbo 55:00 [3]

Back on the turbo. No quad issues worthy of note.

Note

Quad still painful downstairs or downhill. Ok apart from that. May run tomorrow.

Note

Lots of garden digging and barrowing.

S&C 1:20:00 [3]

Mix of weights, stretches and various aerobic stuff.

Note

Walking in the sunshine at Potties with T. Giving the leg a brisk 6.5k shake out. Loads of newts out there too.

Tuesday Mar 10, 2020 #

Note

No bruising or swelling. I’m surprised.
Pretty much the full range of leg movement possible but some quad activities induce fairly sharp pain.
Continuing with compression and icing. Plan is to do some upper body stuff today and prepare the turbo. Maybe the latter will be possible tomorrow.

Whole episode is another reminder to me at least to think hard about contact methods when running in “remoter” areas on my own. “You know you should but......”.

S&C 1:00:00 [3]

Mainly upper body stuff.

Trail 30:00 [3]

Sluie: split the night kites collection with T and my assigned lot were meant to be a subsidiary activity to recceing a potential Sluie headtorch race route. Unfortunately a slippery log resulted in a very heavy fall and a right old thwack to my left thigh. Hence aborted things by necessity. See what colour my quad is in the morning. I suspect it will be seriously multicoloured. :-(. It’s certainly not runnable on.

Meantime a lot of thigh pain and applying a compression bandage, ice and elevation....and feeling a trifle sorry for myself. It was a nice morning too.

Note

No Academy Run Club for me.

Warm up/down 15:00 [3]
shoes: Hoka Blue/Yellow

Pre Inverness Half - pretty chilly and a little breezy

Road Running race (Inverness Half) 1:35:39 [5] 21.13 km (4:32 / km) +101m 4:25 / km
shoes: Hoka Blue/Yellow

1989 29th/800 in 75.47
2020 304/2200 in 95.39
Some slippage over 31 years there then :-). Still, I got closer to Graham Laing today than I did then, he being a Scottish marathon legend and erstwhile pre RobbieS course record holder. 7.20 gap that day reduced to 1.26 today.

Targeted 95 and so can’t be unhappy. Seemed like hard work over the last 5k though. Pleased enough but not really taken with this road lark :-).
7th v60

1st GM 89.04
2nd John R (EU Haries back in the halcyon days) 89.51
4th RT 93.55
5th GL 94.13

Great to have neighbourly support at the finish. SW totally smashed it (84.11).

Coughs and colds and ski weeks have reduced the running a bit over last 4-5 weeks so some catching up to do now.
