Note

Feeling v tired and back not great either. Testing out a tent we haven’t used for at least 15 years, and maybe 20….and one we have.

2 PM

Trail 1:06:07 [3] 7.05 km (9:23 / km) +184m 8:18 / km
ahr:158 max:178

In Braemar for an evening concert at St Margaret’s.
Morrone Birkwood and plantation beyond on a lovely day. With T. Just the ticket for a gentle run with a sore back.
10 PM

Note

Brilliant Siobhan Miller concert, and then she took my Morrone Birkwoods O map for her run in Braemar tomorrow morning, and fiddle player Charlie Stewart needed a Cairngorms map for walking the LG tomorrow, so also took mine. Too busy concert prepping to worry about the finer things in life obviously.

Thursday May 30 #

Note

Needed a rest day..tweaked my back sorting the lawn mower.

Mtn Bike 2:25:39 [3] 41.17 km (3:32 / km) +674m 3:16 / km
ahr:119 max:168

A lot of yesterday in my legs.
With AT
From Braenaloin; Gairnshiel; Corgarff; Inchrory; Loch Builg
Avoided the rain pretty much and turned out really nice. Lovely loop with just the short hike a bike bits by Loch Builg.
Lots of nesting birds: peewits, lapwings, oystercatchers, kites. And the odd hare or two. One or two groups of bikepackers too...Pictish Trail?
Grand circuit, and far better weather than when we aborted it in a hooley a while back.

Trail / Road Run 59:30 [5] 8.51 km (6:59 / km) +123m 6:31 / km
ahr:151 max:174 shoes: Trailfly Ultra Blue/Yellow

Intervals with JM. Skipping DR as too far off the back at the moment to have much enthusiasm for it.
Warm up round the community path, and then over Galahill to Home Farm.
7 x 2/1 on the Home Farm road. Found it very hard. Didn’t think I paced it very well, but on closer inspection it was more that J warmed up to it! Very glad of the company and certainly got more from it than would have done on my tod.
Warm down back the flatter way.

Monday May 27 #

3 PM

Trail 44:00 [3] 6.58 km (6:41 / km) +35m 6:31 / km
ahr:139 max:178 shoes: Trailfly Ultra Blue/Yellow

Academy Run Club
Castle Woods
With WB & JS and 8 kids. Good natter.
Also to and from bridge.

Sunday May 26 #

Note

Now to try and get some concentrated training in for a bit. It’s been very piecemeal over the last three months, with as much walking/trekking, x-c skiing, and the odd bike, as it has been running, and it certainly shows! Still it’s been lots of fun…and priorities, priorities.

Warm up/down 10:00 [3]
shoes: Mudclaw 260 Green

4 x round the field with JM prior to leg 2.
Strange ?nerve pain in left calf seemed to come on overnight. One to watch but four laps seemed to sort it.
11 AM

Orienteering 30:33 [3] 3.77 km (8:06 / km) +61m 7:29 / km
ahr:151 max:169

Scottish Champs Relay - Roseisle
17+ handicap with Drew & Jon
Loved this! Reasonably straightforward and on my own pretty much the whole time so no head to head racing for me. Just took things nice and steadily. A couple of minor bananas but just felt so much stronger and with more to give than yesterday Smashing.
Nice to finish first in the handicap too.
