Orienteering race 21:39 [3] ** 3.83 km (5:39 / km) +32m 5:26 / km
spiked:12/13c shoes: Roclite 305

RR, Urban/Social event, Coldingham. Picturesque wee area, mapped and well planned by LK. Start/Finish & social at the back of the Anchor pub - just a pity I was driving. (forgot to start Garmin until on the way to 3 so re-ran the first bit as a warm down - hence the wrong start/finish on the plot)

SOL 4, Drummond Hill, Blue(M60)
Lovely terrain but a map which is a bit dated - it does the job but just doesn't seem to quite fit in places - a bit like a hand-me-down coat! Overshot at 4 - don't know how I missed it?? - 2mins+. Hesitant at 5 and too far right initially - 30s. Good to 6 & 7 where I got fastest splits - even beating the speedy M16's. Still going ok to 10 & 11 where I caught Reiver but things went a bit wrong at 12 - vegetation ficticious and countours didn't seem right. Eventually decided to relocate at the top of the hill and on the way there fell on top of the control - ~3mins lost. Others however had even bigger losses at this control! Relatively safe from there to the finish, although a mistake like that does dent your confidence and makes you start to question the map. Happy to get an M60 win (7th on Blue behind six M16's). DonP 57.10, Bob 60.08, Dixie 65.22, Reiver 69.19
Garmin says I covered 6.34km

Note to self - don't go back until there is a proper update of the map!
p.s. 314 mile round trip, 11hrs 15m door to door - but good company in the car :-)
