Laying scented trail for Teviothead Hound Trail - lots of stopping and starting and faffing about with bouts of effort - particularly when I thought I was getting tight for time.

SA Hill Running Champs - Comrie. Basically uphill course from Comrie Croft to Carn Chois (edge of Ben Chronzie). There was actually 150m of descent and most of this was near the start with a 3km run on forest roads. Race was run in five seeded waves of thirty - fastest first. I was in the third wave with a lot of younger runners - no other V60's. Was off the back after about 500m and it was a lonely slog on the first 3km on forest roads and even a bit of tarmac. Next 6km were undulating on mostly grassy tracks - I was gaining on some of the uphill sections. Final 3km and 400m of climb were on an ever steepening path. Managed to get into a good rythm and grind it out all the way to the top - all be it slowly - and gained 5 or 6 places. Very warm!
Garmin malfunction on ascent but ok on descent??? Not sure about time - will have to wait for results.
ed - only 1s out with time estimate, 80th 1st V60 - only 24min behind Robbie Simpson!
