Only one bad leg, didnt see the minor track heading out of 5 and hit the gully after it then had to fight through some crap that kept wrapping around legs to get back up onto the spur and the supposed track, found it then over ran the control at the top. rest of the course was relatively ok just no speed today

Orienteering (NOY6) 1:03:37 [4] 8.03 km (7:55 / km)
ahr:172 max:188 shoes: Inov8 Mudroc 290
NOY6 - O'Donnelltown

Most people bag this map out cos there are steep hills and a bunch of green on the map but thats what orienteering in newcastle is about. Add in the rock detail and its a pretty good challenge. granted getting to the rock is a slog but once your up there the going is pretty good.

Today was 1st event with the inov8's and they were supercalafreakinawsome.
Only bad point was ankle braces caused the heal to dig in so decided to run without them and of course that meant i had the obligatory ankle roll on the way to 11.

Messed up the 1st one, didnt find the minor track and got sucked around to hit the powerlines. route choice to 11 was lacking in execution, stayed too high and fought through some vines and stuff, also mistake on 15, stopped concentrating and overran it. happy otherwise.
good to see a tough physical event and some rock in newy, obviously caught a few people out

Course setters should take note and put in plenty of legs that look identical to the next control to give josh plenty of opportunity to think he is at a control further along the course.
