cyclocross race!
painful, as it should be :) forgot my normal gloves, borrowed a friends. but they were too bulky and i couldn't shift, so i took it off after 1 lap, rode another gloveless (in mid 20 temps!), then stopped and switched 'em out. much better after. haven't been riding much, but the fun factor was high!

finished 4th out of 8.

had a great run actually! mostly easy pace, hard packed trail, still some snow on the ground. was whooped after, but a good day.

approx time and distance. up on signal. lots of snow still! (ok not lots, but it was white). easy pace with a teammate who is coming back after surgery. felt great, but my handwarmer didn't work and my fingers burned/tingled for the next hour miserably.

sooo. today our snowstorm hit. chaos throughout the city. i worked a little late then went to the Y to run; no way any streets/track would be good. so i'm jamming on the treadmill... 1 mile warmup, then some 1 mile tempo intervals. halfway thru the third, one of the workers tapped me on the shoulder and said "uh, we're closed now." an hour early. nice of them to tell me when i checked in 40 min ago. sigh.

then i'm almost home.. turn onto my street, which is all downhill. and a big slab of ice. slide, crunch, stop. guess i'm parking here tonight, and walk the rest of the way home. thankfully no one hit my car where it was stashed.

ah, how inept southern towns are dealing with a light dusting...

bitter cold out, so as to not aggravate the cold i am trying to prevent, i stayed inside...

haven't run on the treadmill in ages. like years. think i injured myself on it once, so i stayed away. but it felt ok tonight (so far at least). worked it up easy to 6.6 (with an elevation of 2.0), then did a 10min session at 7.0 (only 8.5 ish minutes/mile? seemed really fast on the treadmill, but not that fast in reality. weird.)

forgot HRM strap.

i'm a wimp. so i got on the rowing machine instead. was getting tired, hungry, and a little light headed so i kept it a bit shorter and easier. descending intervals starting with 6 minutes, then 5, etc.
