Sun setting so finished under headtorch. Cool terrain, looking forward to the races. Mapping may take a while to get used to.

Feeling better physically today but had to get up at 5:30 and spent the day on a cold NYork moor in the snow so decided against it. Probably good to rest up a bit for a big racing week coming up.

Legs feeling a bit disconnected today after yesterday. Will try run later if I have the time and feel ok.

Took a fall yesterday gashing my shin, was advised against running whilst it was glued and steri-stripped but its doesn't feel tight/swollen or painful.

Body is becoming increasingly stiff, sore and tired as the day goes on.

Long Mynd Valleys Fell Race 2nd
Set off very hard and found Si Bailey and another guy for company on the first part of the climb. By the descent I was solo with Si running off. Followed his line to #2 and despite Abi and Duncan's encouragement he was gone. Made it to #2 not too far ahead of Tom and much to my surprise Si!
Got to #3 fine before making a mistake to #4 with Si and sneaking in with Tom close again behind.
Got a scare on and ran hard to #5 and #6. Got a bit of a gap over the group behind with Si and took my preferred line to #7. Took a fall on the contour and gashed my leg. Just kept plugging away up the hill but Si put a dog in and got a gap again. Dropped down and tried to keep him in sight, the slogged my way up Yearlet again, it doesn't get easier! Saw Jack, Abi and Duncan again whilst I was in pain before hobbling off the top and tried to descend as best as I could.

Pretty pleased! 3/4mins pb over last year in similar conditions even with a nav mistake. Strava is saying 30s on the long track leg to #2 and 30s up Yearlet as the main gains.

Jog about beforehand with Tom. Not much.
Jog after with Tom, Duncan, Abi and Jack then just Jack back up to get some soup. And solo a while later back to the car.

Bit of jogging around during Sefton with some uptempo bit giving Jack some support
Back home afterwards along the prom

Still a bit out of practice but got up some more and felt pretty good. Trying not to tire the legs out for the sunday.
