SST Race race 55:30 [4]

Gravenhurst Triathlon (SST distance)

Well, since I have done exactly zero training since, oh, um, last summer, I decided just to do the shortest distance and try out the new wetsuit. Thank goodness I had it, since it was cold and rainy!!

Swim (400m) Time: 9:30
Dock start and swim to opposite side of bay to a set of stairs (interesting...they started quite deep in the water and there were no hand rails). Then there was a LONG hike to transition (took me 2 minutes to jog there!!) Longer transition 1 than I would have liked (2:03), but it was my first go at getting the wetsuit off...not too bad though.

Bike (10km) Time: 24:00
Nice and hilly, but there were a lot of sharp turns and they were slick from the rain. In and out zone was a little dangerous for my liking...had to ride in the blocked off middle lane of Hwy 169 (barely fit 2 cyclists across). Long transition 2 as well (1:30)...just taking my time to catch my breath.

Run (2.5km) Time: 15:40
Yikes...can't say I'm surprised, but I guess I was hoping to run a little faster than this. It was hilly again and I was losing focus. I actually felt like I ran faster, but the time tells the truth. This has always been the area I need to focus on...I'm not a strong runner (nor a fast one).

Placed 93/198, and 6/15 in my age group. Middle of the pack...about where I expected to be since I didn't do a darn thing to get there!!

One of the best things about these races is the draw prizes....I won a Zoot bag at my very first tri and today I was feeling lucky and I won again...just some money off the pictures, but better than nothing...right Super?!
