Running race (Trail) 58:58 [5] 8.0 mi (7:22 / mi)
slept:7.5 shoes: Killer Bees 2 - Cascadia 4

Who's the hardest duathlon - Running. Started pretty fast, too fast as it turns out. Started to give all kinds of spots back before settling in. We did two loops of about 29 minutes each for me. I finally settled in after my usual 30 hour and started to earn spots back. I finished in the top 20 - much farther back in the pack than I wanted. I have been working on my running lately, but did not feel it showed today. More work to be done. Finished the run in 20th position, including a couple pairs teams.

Biking race (Trail) 1:44:11 [4] 14.0 mi (7:26 / mi)

Who's the hardest duathlon - biking. The biking was 4 loops on trail with a bit more technical aspects than expected. I was thinking much more level open flying along. Each lap took 22-25 minutes for me. There was one stolen marker that caused much confusion - I was lucky to turn back around pretty quick. At one other time I blew through a turn and had to repeat a shortish loop, which really frustrated me. I had gotten it right the two prior times through...

I was pretty maxed most of the ride and push things hard. I forgot my gu in my running jacket and really really wished I had it handy. I saw Chase after the first lap. He told me he might drop and I told him to keep going. He came back around and finished not too far back. Good times.

It snowed a bit during the race, which had a nice feel to it. Better than a light rain!

18th overall - 16th solo. http://www.buduracing.com/raceresults/20091213_445...

Running (Road) 1:09:00 [3] 8.0 mi (8:37 / mi)
shoes: Brooks Ghost

Street scramble vetting. Ran around and did all but the north portion of the course. I think the course could be cleared if traffic is favorable. Nice time. Hammy was a bit tight, but then stopped being a bother. Nice and cold.

Biking (Trainer) 30:00 [3]

Basement trainer session sweat fest. My wife was appropriately appalled.

Running (Trail) 1:37:00 [3] 10.0 mi (9:42 / mi) +1550ft 8:28 / mi
shoes: Killer Bees 2 - Cascadia 4

Cougar 10 with Krissy, Becka and Fitz. Very cold - 17 degrees. I was excited to run in this temp, as I had not done that before (x-country skiing, yes, but not running). Fun. Good conversation.

Most of the way up the first climb my hamstring "sprung" a bit. I knew I could keep going. However, I adjusted my stride and started tripping over everything because I was not carrying my left leg forward as much as usual. I had to back off all the hill climbs - and I had wanted to tear into those today for training effect. Oh well. Have the heating pad on now and will streatch etc. until the start of the race on Sunday....
