Run 1:10:00 [3] 15.0 km (4:40 / km)
shoes: Salomon XA Pro

Hillyish loop of AC, abbots pool and leigh woods. Others content on going slow but I felt fairly fresh so pushed on a fair bit. 5 min stop where we waited for someone to complete a pit stop.

Cycle 50:00 [3] 12.0 mi (4:10 / mi)

Orienteering (British Middle) 36:07 [4] 6.2 km (5:50 / km) +195m 5:02 / km

This went ok, I just really made sure the nav was spot on. Problem is I just didn't run fast enough, it was however pleasing to see my straight splitsbrowser line crossing a fair few others as they made mistakes. Was a bit slow to 2 as maybe being overly cautious. Only real time loss was at 20 which is where a lot of people lost time, I probably only lost 20 secs but found another depression on the edge of the circle that was unmapped, maybe my route wasn't the best. Coming from the top you wouldn't miss it, BJ (2 min man) caught me up around here so maybe got a little distracted. Lost 15 secs at 13 as I was far too high. Didn't feel that tired when I finished, oh well.

Run 20:00 [3] 2.0 km (10:00 / km)

WU/WD

Orienteering race 17:17 [4] 3.0 km (5:46 / km)

Heat A - clearly need more practice at these just spent too much time looking at my map and running slowly (trying to make sure I made no mistakes). Finished and was told I missed a control, at the time I was sure I went to it but splitsbrowser provides conclusive proof that I didn't. Same area that Barable and Abrams missed one. Made a 20 secs error at 16 (through stupidity) and was 39 secs outside the final anyway so not too disappointed to be dsq'd. Drank some beer instead of running the C final.

shoes: Salomon XA Pro

Easy one to keep the legs loose. Did some stretching in the sun.

Cycle 25:00 [3] 6.0 mi (4:10 / mi)

IW - my sprinter friend appeared from nowhere again.

Note
rhr:37

Resting HR at 37bpm lying down, not seen it that low before.

Cycle 25:00 [3] 6.0 mi (4:10 / mi)

HFW - No time to run today but always think it's good to rest the day before the day before, then easy run the day before. Will get out at lunch time tomorrow. Looking forward to the weekend, despite the fact I normally do better in classics than sprints and middles. Good luck to my club mates in BOK and ShUOC, although 70% of ShUOC are in my heat, just don't go home in a boo if you don't make the final.

Cycle 25:00 [3] 6.0 mi (4:10 / mi)

IW - A guy came past me at the bottom of a hill and I instinctively jumped on his back wheel, got a free ride up the hill then decided to do some work. We stopped at the lights and I realised it was a guy I'd ridden on the velodrome with (incredible sprinter), had such a good chat at the lights that they went green and we hadn't noticed, got a right angry guy beeping away behind us, he clearly couldn't wait to join the queue of traffic a further 50m up the road.

Cycle 25:00 [3] 6.0 mi (4:10 / mi)

HFW

Orienteering 50:00 [3] 7.0 km (7:09 / km)

Control picking. Some slow, some faster. Good.
