Sunday Jun 1

Event: ESOC Long-O

Orienteering race 1:48:00 [4]10 km (10:48 / km) +490m 8:40 / km
shoes: Walsh PB Extreme
Isn't it dead annoying when a control is in the wrong place??!! But, unlike the last ESOC long O that I did, I didn't spend 40mins deciding there was a problem but rather moved on after 5/10 mins..... En route to the next control did we not come across a mini version of the crag/spur/re-entrant set up that the missing control should have been on a lo and behold there was a control with our code....

That said Abi (who was too ickle to go out by herself) and I had a lovely wee trot round the 'short' Long O. She did all the navigation and I did what I was told...

Friday May 30

Orienteering race (Sprint Final) 28:00 [4]2.2 km (12:44 / km) +65m 11:05 / km
shoes: Saucony Grid Phoenix 2
Praia da Vieira

Yesterday's run qualified me for the A Final - Delighted!!

Knew that we would be starting and finishing in the town with a section in the woods / dunes in the middle. My plan was to slow down on going in to the forest..... but I didn't!!

I managed to miss #5 in a big way, panicked, ran around a bit, panicked a bit more, more running and then fell over the control. I had lost interest by this point and was really sloppy through the rest of the course.

I deserved my last place! The position didn't bother me but I was very cross with myself for being so stupid.

Thursday May 29

Walk 2:00:00 [1]
Abii and I thought about going for a run to celebrate the end of (her) exams but it was a lovely sunny afternoon and we fancied an ice cream from The Allan Water Cafe so walked down to BofA, had an ice cream and walked back. So any benefit of the walk was cancelled out by the icecream!! But it was nice!

Wednesday May 28

Running 36:00 [3]
shoes: Saucony Grid Phoenix 2
Run with Abii from home to Minewoods via House of Keir, railway bridge, pipe bridge, Darn Walk and Upper Glen Road. Most pleasant...

Tuesday May 27

Running 1:13:30 [4]
shoes: Saucony Grid Phoenix 2
A lovely run from the Uni with JonX, Rosco and Alibongo and happpened to meet up with Hubbie, on a long run from home, for a wee bit of it too. Thought we were going to the top of Dumyat until a very nice man from the Pru. suggested that we go to the hill fort instead. I wasn't going to argue with that...

Practiced running up hills (there was only one arm folding incident when JonX spotted me walking), crossing fences (If only my legs were longer...) and running down hills (still mincing!).
