GPS (I wasn't tracked)

Was looking forward to this and just wanted to attack it like I normally do. The first two controls I was running aggressively but orienteering very safe, going all the way to the road junction on one and then the ride to two (overshot slightly and came down the re-entrant but easy enough to relocate).
To three I picked the far right road choice round below 4 as I thought it was flatter. Turns out it wasn't but it was good running and I had a good split so worked well enough. Got through the next section cleanly, but struggling a lot up the hills and losing quite a lot of time. from 7-9. Again fairly clean but small miss on 13 and then had to walk a lot of 14 and much slower than those around me.
Back down to the road for 15 and then at 15 the fun begins. My initial plan to 17 was to the right but I was also tempted by the indistinct path. Flying down the road I caught a glimpse of the right route and the track looked overgrown so just kept going to the indistinct path, which turned out to be okay.
On the model yesterday the steep slopes were horrid so I took the right option to 18 and once out the grot just hurled myself down the road, quads quivering away. Managed to run a 2:00 800m apparently and the last 2.5k in 7:40. Into the arena in the lead. I knew I had an exceptional run for my standards but was surprised to be in the leaders chair for an hour. It was a good spectating spot.

A pretty incredible result for me in a middle but the area, planning and height differential all suited me, so I am glad to to have made the most out of it. Hopefully these WRE points will get me a bit later in the start block too.

1 PM

Running 15:07 [2] 2.9 km (5:13 / km) +24m 5:00 / km
shoes: Saucony Jazz Mileage 2

WD over an hour after I finished as I was sat in the leaders chair for quite a while. Legs were quivering though after they got battered at the end of the race.
