Orienteering race 43:17 [4] *** 8.64 km (5:01 / km) +225m 4:26 / km

BRITISH! 1st place:)

Was great to win lots of relief felt when found out.
Had a pretty good run lots a bit here and there but running strongly and constantly which is what really won it for me out there i think.

Time Time Lost Time behind fastest Split

1) 3:19 5 sec 0
Picked up map and saw red line heading off and looked runnable so just ran and was masses of people around everywhere ignored them headed up spur then to marsh but was a bit left and couldnt see control was rectified quickly by moving 5 metres to my left.

2)3:02 0 0
Ran down through gorse to path then used big veg boundaries crossing east to west path to lead me in and ran up reentrant hit it perfectly.

3)1:46 0 0

dropped down at angle to path then into open and ran to pond then followed along stream

4)4:08 3 sec 0

Started off leaving control at wrong angle was still undecided about route choice for next leg so ran in a quick circle before heading off. Went high up to small path and over marsh used two trees west of control then over marsh and saw it.

5)1:38 5 sec 0

Could see big spur but climbed a contour too high and had to drop to the control instead of the planned contouring round into it.

6)2:25 3 sec 0

Went swimming so lost time there otherwise very simple leg trees as first point then off corner of marsh and pond.

7)2:04 5sec 4 sec

Went up to get on too path as was tiring slighlty through terrain actually slightly went over control and had to stop and drop to it.

8)2:21 10sec 25sec

Lost time here on my route choice contoured round the spur just above marsh then across re-entrant and in lost 10 sec as wasnt totally sure were i came across re-entrant needed a attack point. Others went over spur and could see control and was very runnable up there so lost quite a lot of time from bad route choice.

9)2:12 5 sec 7 sec

Ran just below the bank got stuck in some marshy bits then hit earthwall but some bad micro route choice pulled off right and had to come round the side and in instead of going straight which was quicker as old guy overtook me into it.

10)2:15 3 sec 0

Ran through the wood aiming off left to path had to really go off as got caught in gorse so came out on path too early but ran down hit reentrant as ap then across and in perfectly.

11)6:11 25sec 11sec

Long leg could see mikey in distance so ran hard took a different route at endi went acorss and up marsh at ditch he went all the way round i aimed off but then got pulled off and ran down a reentrant as i thought control may have been in it was stupid and lost time then had to climb again to control.

12)1:48 0 0

Ran up early hit the path and ran along it dipped into reentrant and spiked it.

13)1:21 0 5sec

Went along yellow to start off with as terrain was killing me. Went across reentrant then up spur but had to drop much more than i thought i did should have gone round bottom of spur instead of over.

14)1:57 0 0

Went straight along indistinct path and in nothing wrong just tiring now.

15)2:28 0 4 sec

Headed up then along curvy path and down gully was a very big wall thingy.

16)0:37 0 4 sec

Could see it so ran average and planned rest of course.

17)1:17 0 1 sec

Ran round bottom off hills then cut up the spur it was on and dropped in perfectly done.

18)0:54 5sec 3sec

Was very conscious that this could become hard actually physically stopped to make sure i was going in right place was pretty easy in end but was hesitant.

19)1:09 0 0

Run down the hill simple went through gorse but didnt stop me just hurt a bit and now have very spotty legs

Run In)25 0 0
SPRINT!

Total time i believe i lost 1:04
Time behind superman 1:04

My route is on routegadget but it is on gps so you have to scroll to the bottom to find it.
