National XC.

Decided on Friday I would race after no bad reaction from Thursdays run. I wasn't worried by the lack of the running but more worried by the too much cycling on my crappy bike with gym and AJ and also I suck at cycling and my legs have been screwed for a few days.

Probably one of the nicest course I've seen though and was excited. Set off again what I think was a good pace and was doing okay for a lap and a half with Carcas. Then got a gap on him but struggling towards the end of lap 2 of 3 and then everyone started coming past and I didn't have much to give.

Knew Carcas was closing too as the go Alex shouts from the haries were getting close. Then he came past. Well Alex Muir came past oh not Carcas. Had an almighty battle with Alex Muir for the last 2k switching positions on every flat/downhill. Luckily it was downhill into the final straight and kicked hard so finished well. Which was good as Carcas was also honing in on us.

My highest ever placing at National. Mostly cause I have only done the English one but still a victory. Both calves a bit sore so not sure on the damage yet but hoopefully ease into to some easier running now.

HBT girls smashed it though coming 2nd overall. Think we were 8th. Oh and managed to beat Steph Twell's time which is always encouraging.
