Blorenge Fell race
Started off quick but got to the front and thought I might pull away but this full kit Hoka guy came past and I spent the whole climb dying hard to stay with him. Just about managed then got to the top, followed the flags where a marshal pointed us down the hill. Went flying past then the flags seemed to stop but I saw another flag ~100m down the hill and didn't see any others. Hoka guy followed me down to. When I got to the next flag there was flags to the left and right of me and realised I may have just cheated. Decided to just carry on anyway as it would have been a steep brackeny slog back up the hill. Then the flags seemed to disappear again so just headed to where I knew the race went down. Just cruised it down the hill as knew my time wasn't valid so no record and was comfortably leading.
I got to the finish and told the guy what I did and said maybe I should of read my map. Then looked at the map and realised it wasn't the route they sent us on anyway (map provided by organiser).
They disqualified me and Hoka guy in the end. Fair enough but not sure what I was supposed to do not knowing the course. A common occurrence in fell running I find. I wish they just didn't flag it and stated checkpoints or flag it extremely well.
Turns out the Hoka guy was youtube sensation
