Running (Dreams) 1:07:42 [3] 11.36 km (5:57 / km) +20m 5:54 / km
shoes: Black Asics GT 2000

Had a dream that I woke up at 6:00am, dragged on my shorts and shoes and headed out for a run on a beautiful still morning, with gentle light on the river through Nedlands and out to Tawarri and lots of people out for a morning stroll. An apparition that looked like Rachel West appeared in UWA and kept my honest for the run back through the OOB in Kings Park for the last couple of km.

Must have been a dream as the longest run since Jan 2104, maybe if I can keep dreaming I will get to the goal of a half marathon distance

Note

Too lazy to get up before it got too hot to think about exercise, and now Kings Park tracks are all closed.

Don't need any more excuses for a rest day

Road Cycling 2:17:18 [3] 52.27 km (22.8 kph) +329m
shoes: Colnago CLX

Ride across to Herdsman to meet with Edward, across to Scarborough, up and down a few hills but wind at our backs. Up the coast to Hillarys and on up to Whitfords before heading back across to the freeway. Grinding into the easterly. Down the freeway path to Lake Monger and back to Herdsman and home.

Lost of short hills and very busy with people on the coast plus the wind made for a slowish ride. Not too hot but would not be so nice later in the day.

GPS ANT does not want to play - maybe later!

So I reboot and turn on the Garmin and like Magic there is the data transfer!!

Orienteering race 34:19 [3] 5.11 km (6:43 / km) +92m 6:09 / km
shoes: Black Asics GT 2000

City Beach Metro. Novel approach by Wayne with all the controls clustered in the top third of the map. So dense scatter of 30 controls and many options as to which way to go and which 21 to collect.

Got a bit messed up in the details of the tracks and fences around 18 & 21 and lost a few seconds. Decided that doing the outside circuit was a good option but must have miss counted as I took in #30 which was uphill and back down again when it might have been better to go to #14 but that was also up a steep short hill so maybe not much difference.

Back through Mosman etc

Orienteering (Sprint @ UWA) 25:26 [4] 4.0 km (6:21 / km)
shoes: Black Asics GT 2000

Good fun with Map Memory courses at UWA Thanks to Tash

Biggest problem was orienting the map at each control site, should have taken the compass

Agree with tRicky that once you were going there was no distraction of a map in your hand. Of course that is made easier with a very familiar area and map but a good lesson, don't look at the map if you don't need to!

Gentle ride with Emma and Nicole to East Perth and back via EQ.

Spotted Craig Dermer out for a walk in South Perth, Jim Mann and Mike Howe at EQ on the bikes so quite the morning for old retired orienteers to be let out on the streets.
