Rogaining race 11:50:00 [3] 58.87 km (12:04 / km) +1214m 10:56 / km

Upside Down Rogaine near Wandering with Owen Horton.

We planned for 56km straight line, but had a few small misadventures and had to knock out about 3.5km from the route so a straight line of 52.5km.

Did some running (well slow shuffle jogging) after dawn to make sure we had time to finish our loop, and made it back with about 10 minutes to spare.

Nice area for a Rogaine with a mixture of Bush, Pine Plantations and Farmland. Starting at 8:00pm it is always a bit of a challenge to get straight into the night navigation. Owen is a strong competitor and good navigator so we both worked hard to keep up at time and shared the navigation. We both made mistakes some of which the other picked up but some were not until it was too late and we had overshot a control!

Came 3rd Overall, behind Will & Dave 1st and Tim & Shane 2nd, so had the honour of Supervet winners but it seems Tim and Shane will be lining up for their pensions soon and are Vets.

Strong Easterly this morning, saw a guy a couple of hundred meters in front at the start of Matilda Bay so put in an effort and caught him by the Eliza Statue, stayed on his wheel until a bit before the brewery when he worked out he was towing me and just hit the big peddle and took off and was a couple of hundred meters in front by the Narrows.

Diminished crew this Friday with Carol, Nicole, Noel and Chas all MIA - although Chas did turn up at the coffee shop.

Tranby House and back, coffee at Matilda Bay

The diverted path around the entrance to the new footy stadium bridge near Gloucester Park, seems too hard for the cars to work out. Clearly the cars have right of way but on both crossings a car stopped for us, all very nice but. The problem is that the car behind does not get it and could easily swing around the random car stopped in the middle of the road and wham no more me or fizzyred!

We are not in Canada where cars have to stop for pedestrians who look like they are going crossing the road, so why have cars suddenly started stopping for bikes where they don't have to?

Way too windy to do much and legs were decidedly uninterested in the the whole idea of a long ride. Did a few loops in Kings Park, chased one rider up Lovekin only to have some random guy who was doing repeats of Lovekin power past me as I was struggling to make the catch.

May drive was closed - I guess they must be doing some roadwork?
