WMOC Sprint Final in M65-A

Pretty straight forward start with the first couple of controls in Albert Park and just a few flower beds to avoid, certainly would have favoured someone who could run fast, crossed the road (which was closed for the event) into the university campus. A couple of not overly complex legs and then back across the road on the edge of the park for two more before heading back into the campus. All going OK but not fast enough.

Through the underpass and got confused as the underpass joined straight to a cover way so dropped you out on the opposite side of the building to what was expected, lots of people had this same misinterpretation of the map. So overshot the control 9 and ended up looking at the finish! A couple more controls then a longish leg to #13, I headed out to the road, but turned in one gap too soon and took a while to work out what I done wrong. Lost another 2 minutes here.

Overall well down but I did not mispunch and had a good run on the more technical qualifier so happy with that.

Went to the Sky Tower afterwards and looked down on the map.

Off to Woodhill for th model tomorrow

WMOC / WMG Sprint qualifier Epsom Campus Auckland

Compact area with a lost of walls, fences and other uncrossable obstacles. Did not make any significant errors but can see now a few slightly better route choices. Overall happy with 18th and place in the A Final

4 minutes between 1st and 5th then next 4 minute split goes to 26th - some young legs and minds at the top of the field!

tomorrow is another day!
