Running 20:48 [3] 3.4 km (6:07 / km)
shoes: Ascii 2000 Oct 2016

I had not run a step since the Orienteering in Czech at the end of July which is one of the longest lay offs from running for years.

Short run along the side of the Thames to see if my legs were up for it.

I have had a stiff back for the past few weeks so was not sure how it would go, so I took it slowly. Spent 5 minutes stretching at the turn around and another 10 minutes when I got back. Seemed to have a positive impact on my muscles but I need to focus on stretching which I had not done on the bike ride.

Not much of a ride,

Off the ferry and straight into a storm, we were weighed down with extra supplies in our panniers (Champagne!) and made it to Trev's (Brother in law) office dumped the bags and were planning to ride over the downs to Folkestone. But with driving rain and strong winds we back tracked to the railway station in Dover had a coffee to try and warm up and then took the train to Folkestone.

Last chance for ride in France so we had nice ride out from Strasbourg to the northern end of the Alsace wine region. Followed an old canal on a good paved path. Lots of locals going for a ride on the path in nice weather.

Found a local restaurant for a Plate du Jour washed down with a local Rose.

Looked around a couple of villages for wine tastings and ended up at a nice house where we tasted and purchased some very good Riesling and Pinot Noir, some may may it back to the Shenton Park cellar!
