| MTBO "middle" at Mabie. Only slightly shorter than the long! Much better ride today, attacked more and took good routes. Just one overshoot on 5 where I just had my head down riding too much and didn't get the distance right, and didn't spot either the small path heading off, or the fact the control was on this path not on the main path. Great weekend of courses though. |

| Collected some controls (by bike), but no idea how far or how long. I guess about 30 mins. |

| MTBO champs, Dalbeattie. Fairly mediocre ride overall, although pretty good up to 11. Rubbish route to 12 - misread the contours entierly, and not best route to 16 or 19. Puncture on the way to 19 so had to ride flat tyre to 20 and then run the "run-in" when the tyre rolled off the rim on the singletrack. Not sure how far I rode but most people seemed to have ridden about 25km. |

| Usual short road route of late, but didn't go too hard as don't want to strain anything before the next few weekends. Just a ride to stay sharp. Really wet out, pretty scary on skinny tyres. |

| Loosener around Forest Hill with Sarah. Actually wasn't very tight as it turns out. Knee middling, hope it is ok for Saunders. Hey John - if a bad ankle is a wankle whats a bad knee? A knobee? |

| Frith Hill brown course. Not quite at full speed, knee not yet right. Really felt (even more) short of speed on the paths, a bit of an issue in a southern forest. Felt ok in terrain though, a bit sore on the steeper climbs. Mostly clean run, a couple of 10s errors in the very centre of the circle, a 10s running the wrong way up a path before backtracking, and a 30s overshoot on a control I've had before where I know the map is duff. Map wasn't great in places actually, but a well planned course, overall enjoyable. |

| Well I was preparing a sob story about the end of a cold, and strong headwind on the way out, but time looks ok to me! 50km/h all the way along the Normanton bypass helped! |

 | Kayaking long (Flatwater + Resistance) 1:47:13 [2]11.2 km (9:34 / km) | |

| Got on canal at Altofts and down to first road bridge in Cas and back. Came back up the old cut thinking the portages would be easier - wrong! With 5 tennis balls resistance to simulate the crappy sit on tops we'll be using in July. |

| Orienteering at Bowkerstead Farm, Grizedale. I haven't measured it but I can't believe it was only 3.3km! Still got a cold and felt it, a bit dizzy in places. Few mess ups in the circle, the worst one prob only 2 mins and this one I went into the right re-entrant first but didn't see the flag on the ground. Oh well it's only a bit of fun. |

| MTB around Normanton, same route as last time only much harder (on my own...). Definitely had a slight cold for a day or three, I blame Stodge. |

 | Cycling long (Road) 3:38:27 [3]* 102.5 km (2:08 / km) | |

| Rode to far side of York and back to drop/collect stuff from Helen's. Horrible headwind on the way back, about 9 mins slower. It didn't help that one of the things I picked up was an mtb tyre which caused a bit of extra drag on the wind while attached to my rucsac! |

| On the Chase with Stodge. We went hard up some of the hills, but mainly a social ride with some technical stuff. |

| Well as I was in Derbyshire anyway it would be rude not to go for a blat at Matlock. A good level to pull a few moves, I can still do it ok. |
 | Cycling race (TQ) 2:05:45 [4]* 36.3 km (3:28 / km) | |

| D&W TQ. Rode ok, although back a bit sore from 2 paddles in a week. Was a bit late back but only because I went for a 20 pointer knowing I would be late. Did waste some time on that one though, wrong route in and wrong route out, probably in haste because I knew I was late. Apart from that pretty accurate, a couple of minor hesitations a bit too early - usual on a 1:50,000 I guess. I hate that climb out of Cressbrook! |
Monday Jun 2 |
 | Kayaking long (Flatwater) 1:12:36 [2]8.7 km (8:21 / km) | |

| Down the canal and back, much the same as last time, except 300m shorter due to f1ng swans. Delayed on the way out by them being over agressive about babies or something, then just short of home had to get out and walk. Would've been slightly faster though which is a bit weird seeing as I couldn't possibly be any fitter in a boat on no training. |

| Gentle mainly off-road ride with Sarah around Normanton. Quite wet, so slippy and fun! |
