Should really get more road running under the belt before going off-road but knew in advance this was going to be a bit ugly and figured in the bush nobody can see you walk... Horoeka track, with the up very quickly degenerating into a run/walk mix, probably getting dangerously close to 50:50 by the top. Still, c 21:30 up which I think isn't much more than last time so maybe part of the problem was the bits I was running I was going too fast. Then carried on up the pylon road to spaghetti junction, where I officially turned around because it was full of beehives and definitely not because I was never really going to carry on round to the Tawhai track today. Descent back down the Horoeka track took a little over 10 minutes - gravity is a wonderful thing!

Worse than I thought but probably about as good as I deserve. The one positive of barely managing 15 minutes continuous when I was aiming for 30, is that in not reaching that target I didn't negotiate myself into definitely starting into the Wellington 5k races next week 'regardless of weather' (Not ruling it out but more likely in a couple of weeks' time!)
