Walking 3:00:00 [1]

Trig M route, Korowai Torlesse Conservation Park. Much easier than the track from the bottom of the hill but still a fair bit of steep climb to get up to the ridgeline, Then more up & down than I remembered on the ridge. Had hoped to carry on a bit from the trig this time, if not all the way to Rabbit Hill, but Stella's boots had started eating her heels (tbh I wasn't feeling the most sprightly anyway) so turning back sooner rather than later seemed sensible. Rather cold in the wind!

Run (off-road) 1:15:00 [3]
shoes: X Talon 2020

Bottle Lake long blue route. Haven't done this for AAAAGES so I don't know if I should be most surprised by:
A) The time. Without looking up previous efforts I'm pretty sure par for this was around 1:15 to 1:20
B) The lack of any walking breaks - even on the open sandy ridge or the long soul-sucking stretch along the landfill fence (the latter came close to getting me, helpfully there wasn't any real headwind)
C) Almost no issues with missing some of the mysterious corners and junctions - until right near the end when I got on a trail that I don't think I've seen before. Pretty sure this wouldn't be a shortcut before anyone relates it to point A, but it did mean I missed the gravel road stretch right near the end of the 'proper' loop which I've never enjoyed.

Orienteering (night, score) 59:05 [3] *** 3.44 km (17:11 / km) +270m 12:20 / km
shoes: X Talon 2020

Night Nav #2, Halswell (that ends well). Won't have a competitive score mainly because what looked to be the best plan for me in an hour was basically the same as what I did my last time here so instead diverted out to the fairly isolated 100 pointer on a part of the map I haven't checked out before. Apart from the big climbs was a lovely night out, and the nav mostly went well - I'm not sure if the times that it didn't on (I think) 3 controls would have added up to enough that I could have got that one more 30 pointer in the final rush home. (would have added a few hundred metres but all on the flat... so... maybe?)

Run 1:04:30 [3]
shoes: Asics Trabuco 2018

Sunset run, Hagley Park and various extra bits. That was a nice surprise - an hour is always a bit of a psychological barrier when you're getting back into things and I only decided part way through that I was going for it. Felt like I had quite a bit more in the tank too (but was starting to get sore in various places) (including the neck?!?!?). And that was with the pace lifting up a few times past what it should for a first 'long' run....
