Orienteering 1:12:00 [3] **** 6.8 km (10:35 / km)
spiked:15/18c shoes: X Talon 2020

Casual training, Bottle Lake. Took a few controls to warm up physically but even more so mentally, no real mistakes, just no focus. Then went pretty well 4-14, apart from 12 where I tried to use some vegetation no longer there as an attackpoint, then blundered around a bit until Jenni who was taking a much more systematic approach to the same problem found the control. Then coming into the northern block lost my sense of direction somewhat, completely blowing a control, and as I was under time constraints just headed back from there, picking up the last 3 as I went. The northern block looked fun but I think I'd done my dash to be honest!

Social climbing 1:30:00 [4]

At the Y, a little bit of solo bouldering to warm up, then a good session with Maggie although I feel I was missing a bit of stretch and flexibility. And when the gas ran out it hit hard! Time to try and make this a regular thing again...

Run 1:16:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Trabuco 2018

Default hour plus loop - Hagley, Mona Vale, rail path then burbs home. Up as far as Blighs (?) Road before turning which put me briefly in unfamiliar territory until I recognised St Andrews and knew approximately how to get home from there. Didn't feel great for the first 20 minutes or so and thought I might be reporting my first failure of the current reboot, but pressed on...

Run 38:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Trabuco 2018

Lovely warm day for a plod. City and red-zone as far as Stanmore Rd and back. Had almost no luck with traffic so very stop start, I'll blame that for not being able to get into a cruise mode.

Orienteering (night, score) 54:06 [3] *** 5.2 km (10:24 / km)
shoes: X Talon 2020

NightNav 3, Bottle Lake. Forgot to recharge or replace my torch batteries, but figured surely I'd be able to squeeze another hour out of them. Turns out no, so within the first few minutes of starting it became apparent that I would be getting shorter and shorter glimpses of the map, terrain, or watch as the night went on. But persisted, and it wasn't until around the 20-30 minute mark when I simultaneously ran out of trains to share light with and hit the only part of the plan that required a lot of time off track that I decided I should just head back. Was able to pick up 3 more controls on the way home pretty much solely by moonlight which makes up for one in the forest that I must have basically gone right past. All very entertaining really.
