Orienteering warm up/down 8:00 [2]
shoes: X Talon 2020

Cruising from the carpark to the start triangle, and from the finish to the carpark. But had to navigate as well, especially the former.

Orienteering 1:10:08 [3] **** 5.6 km (12:31 / km)
spiked:17/22c shoes: X Talon 2020

Casual Training, Spencer Park. Much better effort than last week, a couple of small 'drifting' mistakes early in the inland blocks but otherwise had a good flow; but then struggled to keep it together in the coastal strip. Not sure if I ever found where 17 was supposed to be (did find 3 or 4 places that fitted the map), stands to reason that the one leg where I decided using the tracks was the only option would be the part of the forest with a million extra unmapped tracks and possible ex-tracks. Through not starting from a known control point that meant struggling with uncertainty most of the way to 18 (which should have been relatively easy). And wasn't careful enough with my exit from 21 which stuffed me up for 22 even after spotting the flag while relocating.

Note

Calves feeling tight and one of those demotivating grey easterly days = lazy rest day!

Walking 4:00:00 [1]

Sneaky day off - had a bit of an explore at Craigieburn. Out over 5 hours but allowing for plenty of stoppage and dawdling time. Didn't cover as much ground as I could have, I need to find a walking buddy who's not bothered by exposed scree slopes and the like, but understands that some people are.

Run 40:30 [3]
shoes: Asics Trabuco 2018

Passed the commitment test - Metservice told me it felt like 9 degrees outside at lunchtime, and I still went out. (9 degrees felt generous at first but either the air warmed up a bit or I did). Full Hagley (or at least the orienteers' full Hagley) from work.

Run 44:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Trabuco 2018

Lunchtime - red zone to Swanns Road and back. All I had time for but felt like enough for today
