Orienteering 1:13:58 [3] *** 3.1 km (23:52 / km) +275m 16:32 / km

Orton Bradley. Had little enthusiasm about this (it's a nice place to visit but not exactly fun orienteering) but figured if I stayed home the plan B of going for another park/road run was unlikely to happen either. Lived up to expectations, although the course on paper wasn't too bad. Physically wasn't at all interested in the steep hills, orienteering brain never fully engaged (I think most mistakes were down to lack of focus), then on the legs where things would have otherwise gone well issues with the map or other external factors came into play. Case in point, I think I executed 4-5 almost perfectly, but probably lost the most time on that leg - as executing my route choice perfectly included close to 100m crawling through thinnings knee+ deep when nothing on the map indicated it would be any worse than the mid-green forest that I'd already been through to get to 4. Oh well hopefully that's all my negative orienteering experience over for the year!

Run 1:02:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Trabuco 2020

Very circuitous Hagley run, off paving as much as possible. Felt much better this time though after having to make a shoelace then toilet stop within a few minutes at about the 2/3 mark didn't quite get the momentum back. At the very least unlike last effort wasn't left wondering if my body was in agreement with the IOF that I had instantly aged 5-10 years on new years day (something I wasn't planning on admitting to until whatever spring regionals that I might do this year)

Run 45:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Trabuco 2020

Hagley Lap. Terrible. Short runs should either be hard work or slow, not both. Need more sleep among other things...

Walking 3:00:00 [1]

Trig M. Considered heading on to Rabbit Hill but feeling tired and dizzy enough the scree in the first saddle south of the formal track end didn't look tempting. This is clearly the time of year for insect life in tussock country.
