Up early after woken by the dawn wall of sound. So took a solo walk back up to the Trig/Wilkinson junction (was clagged in at the junction so another trip up to the summit to look at the inside of a cloud seemed unnecessary) then back down just in time to attempt to keep up with Pim and McFadden on a mission up to the old whaling station on the not so old but just as disused North End track.

Knees sore. Can't believe what I used to do on that island on a daily basis.

Back to where I was when I first started Attackpointing. And with company that goes even further back.

Up to the summit of Kāpiti Island and back with fellow rat eradicators from 1996. The NZ conservation community being what it is, most are people I've crossed paths with in the interim but a couple I hadn't seen at all since then.

When you're not trying to get up into the kokako zone before dawn, or in less of a hurry but carrying up to 20 litres of sugar water, it's a much easier walk but I'd never call going up the Trig Track a cruise!

All I had time to squeeze between a couple of meetings. And felt a quick pace again too. Good that I can manage that but hopefully would pull it back a bit when there's time for a longer run
